The Stihl's are workers! Let them do what they are intended for. LOL
Hopefully not to much damage to the shop.

yes, there are Dollys in the workshop.

now then, who is going to be pissed?
the tree service guys or the Dollys?

The red ones will be evil if another brand drops some chunks of maple on em or keeps showering them with Saw chips

It’ll be like poking a wasps nest with a stick

better now? can you see the pics?
Yes, pictures are showing now!

guys, decision time: the tree service company guys brought Stihl saws with them.
i don't think these are good enough saws to handle my problem project.
now i don't know whether to tell them to leave or tell them to take the trees off my shop.

oh the dilemma! :)

i may have to make an exception to my go-Dolmar-or-go-home policy this one time.
I like Your policy!

Sometimes exceptions are allowable, let the trees roll on and crush the non-Dolmar saws! ;)

Sorry to see the carnage.

Whoever built that shed did a darn good job though. I have seen smaller trees do far more damage. It and the rest of your property are really nice looking too.
Hopefully no Dolmars were harmed in the making of those photos!

Man, it looks like your little shop took the hit like a champ! Any real damage?

at least three of the 2x8 rafters are broken clear through, and there is a penetration area of about 6' x 3'. the ridge board, i don't know yet, the end just inboard of the gable stud took a heck of a hit. there is some stored deer netting in the way (you can see it best my bottom picture below) -- i'll clear that out once the weight is off the roof. you can understand my reticence to climb up above the collar ties for a closer look at the damage when there is still 2 tons of tree sitting atop the structure.

Nice. The tree company do the job? They have a crane? Or just cutting by hand?

my hardscaping has a feature which unfortunately precludes getting a crane near to the shop; if i had to do it over again i probably would have made the gap wider. it was sized to allow my Toyota Tacoma (note to foreign readers: equivalent vehicle in other parts of the world is called the "Hilux") to pass through, but a Tacoma is quite a bit narrower than your average crane truck. long story short, the tree service guys are chopping-and-lopping everything away with saws.

below, some "those were better times" pictures to go with my explanation above...

my PS5105 is inside the shop, biding it's time, making plans, waiting for the opportunity to strike against an enemy of greater numbers but of lesser character and lacking honor...

Thanks for the photos. The bull rope and high tie in point make sense for your situation. Subject for a separate thread, but I need to learn more techniques for getting large trees off of roofs, without the risk of crushing eaves, ripping off gutters, risking windows / siding, putting people at risk, etc.

Nice.
They didn't even leave you the wood????

the black cherry i kept, the rest (pine and Norwegian maple) left with them. i have about 3 cords of firewood stacked currently and that's about my limit. i don't typically have a problem with "not enough" -- i could drag a 60 foot tree out of the woods every other weekend if needed.

for example, there is a ton of cherry around...
