Don't know if this is the best place to ask but I'll try. Thinking of getting a Makita DUC306 36V saw, does anyone have any experience on run time with these? I have plenty of their batteries already so would like to keep in that system.

Can't comment on the 36v system, only have an 18v top handle. Have 3, 4 and 5 amp batteries. It shuts down way more than it should (thermal overload protection). Otherwise very handy tool.

I'm looking to powder coat some dolmar cases. anyone got a RAL color code that gets me close to dolmar "red" ?

I used an app that tries to color match from a photo. It looks decently close on my phone, but when I look up examples of RAL 2002 online it doesn't look quite right.

You can not use a phone/photo for visual color matching, not on Dolmar saws and their color anyway.
The exact same chainsaw photographed with both the same and/or different devices will appear to have a different color depending on incoming light.

Older vintage Dolmar saws are supposedly true orange RAL2004

Newer Dolmar saws are supposedly blood orange RAL2002

All credits to here!

Also, color fading is a key culprit trying to color match.

Just look at Husqvarna saws, though yes Dolmar saws can look mismatched too.

awesome! I was going to order a pound of every orange variant. you just saved me $1,947,649.22 I owe you a beer :-)

I see colorimeter devices for fairly cheap, but also assume you get what you pay for and decided to not waste my money. Surely for $100 I'm not going to get good accuracy? of course using my phone and taking a picture of a 5105 cover... the free Color Harmony app told me it was RAL 2002. pretty cool

Picked this up recently in very original, unmolested condition. No missing screws and very minimal signs of wear and tear anywhere, including the bar and spur sprocket. If bumper chains were around in 1986, it could even be the original chain as it is domar branded. Full disclosure, The clutch cover had a large, permanent workshop sticker and loose, flaking paint, so I stripped and repainted it. It had one broken lower mount also, which I have corrected. I added an aluminium tab to the chain catcher to hold the oil line into the tank to address an issue Dolmar corrected on later models with a similar setup involving the inner bar plate. Early style non-inertia chainbrake works, but you can see why it was quickly upgraded.
I have been on the lookout for a saw to upgrade with a 115 cylinder and piston I have, but this is not it.

Even the early style chain brakes were inertia-type. There is a cylindrical metal weight in the top peak of the sprocket cover hidden behind the black plastic part called "weight holder". It was this plastic part which was prone to breaking to cause replacement of the old style brake with the new type.
The hook at the weight holder's lower end which locks the brake band in open position very often broke off rendering the entire saw unusable. And braking action of the new type is much better.

What I took as payment.
The man secured pure gas and this B&C oil.
He owns no chainsaw and I brought all my saws fully fueled.

This was a "favor" job for a good friend, I don't charge that!

P.S.:
The X-Cut & PS-550 outperformed the other three saw and chain combos in terms of chain durability and overall cutting performance.
I am repeatedly being impressed by the full chisel X-Cut!
