Dolmar PS-6400 20" B&C, 100% factory stock , no MM, merely an AM piston (preemptively swapped out years ago due to carbon scoring).
The best all rounder I own - PERIOD!!!

No, I didn't utilize her to buck that log even though she would have handled it no problem.
She did noodle all the knotty rounds!

So I have a sachs dolmar 111 that I came across a few years ago. I had it running good but haven't used it in a couple of years. Took it down today and it flooded almost as soon as I put fuel in it. I ended up pulling the carb off and taking it apart. All looked good then I did a pressure check. I found that if I actuated the choke lever while pressure was on the carb, the pressure would go to zero. I put it all back together and started it right up without closing the choke. Is this normal to loose pressure when the choke is pulled out or could there be something wrong in there?

If it is a PS111i with the Tillotson injection carb, then that is normal. They have a needle valve which supplies fuel directly to the carb throat instead of a choke butterfly.

Well, it was worth a shot. The 133 only came with the metal tank, that one has a plastic one (like the 143), it also has the plastic top that the 143’s came with. The 133/133s had metal tops to go with their metal tanks.
Both the 133s and especially the 143 made Dolmars 100cc saws look tame. Except for the 166.
Oh, it also has the OEM muffler for the 143, the 133 muff looks just like it but it’s a front exit.

It does not have the choke butterfly so it must be the injection carb. After taking it apart and reassembling it, the saw starts normally. I let it sit awhile and had to choke it once and it fired right up without flooding. May have just been something small in it that I didn’t see. Thanks

Not sure what you meant here. I’ve run both a 143 and 9000, plus own a 166, and the 143 is the nastiest of the bunch it seems to me!

I agree that the 143 is a fire breathing 95cc, and it does indeed out cut/work them all, except the 166. The 166 will out cut it all day long. I have run them back to back and was quite surprised at the difference in them. I expected the 143 to do better against it.

Sad days for DOLMAR fans: In Germany when you surf www.dolmar.de the site is dead and you'll
be redirected to a page at makita.de saying:

Screen Shot 2023-01-11 at 18.54.20.png

meaning: Sales of the DOLMAR brand has been discontinued. You have been redirected to www.makita.de

End of story — Elvis has just left the building

I noticed it a couple days ago when trying to access the official Dolmar.de manuals page.

I am in awe how Makita treats their "Dolmar customers" expecting them to remain with the Makita brand.

In Croatia Dolmar is non existent and Makita is getting less & less love and attention.

I am staying with my Dolmar saws, no question!
But the thought of parts support down the road twists my guts!!!

The parts situation is concerning, I hope you find what you need when you need it.

There were millions of saws made over the years. I expect we’ll be able to get parts for several years for the newer products. There might even be a requirement that they have to support their products for a time, idk, but they have warranties to honor for example.
I bet used parts will be around for a long time as well, given the number of saws that were made.

I just went to see if the parts/service manuals are there and they are not. That really sucks!
I posted about it recently.

Well, I can't say that I didn't expect the pages to go under eventually!
I need to make a backup just in case anything happens to my PC/SSD.

I wouldn't be that optimistic: The model PS-3410 was discontinued mid 2017. Five years later on in mid 2022 many essential parts were already NLA. Why should one expect better availability of spares for other discontinued products?

Makita’s dismantling of Dolmar is shameless. It’s pure woke crap. If they think they can usher in the age of electrics by simply discontinuing gas powered products they’re in for a rude awakening. they should just move to California and celebrate with Newsom. Their give away will gladly get picked up by the other saw manufacturers and life will go on. Except the money generated by saw sales will go elsewhere. I hate it for the employees at Dolmar. They just get the shaft.
