I put one of those switches on my 371XP. Love it!Based upon the advice I got here, I replaced the on- off switch on the 7900, to the HQ540xp automatic switch. Perfekt match. Excellent! Thanks the advice!

One thing I like about the older Dolmar is how even the smaller homeowner products looked like something you would be proud to own, not throwaway garbage.
I killed one of those bucking firewood logs for a couple years in my teen years, NOT what this saw was ever meant to be used for.Got me another oldie (or youngtimer, depends on your point of view):
SACHS-DOLMAR 285 electric saw from mid 1980s in excellent condition:

The electric motor is perfectly fine, my dad may have changed the brushes once or twice though.Serious bucking will probably wreak havoc on a 1,3 kW saw. It ain't no power house, is it?
And I don't think it has overheating protection...
I beleive that they will still make parts for their most sold models for years to come. I hope anyways.
That’s the latest, I’ve read that they expect to stop making gasoline powered saws this year.I've been looking at the 56cc online. I don't have a local Makita dealer. Referring to this post, are they shutting down the Makita chainsaw line?
I don't see any freg only F45D, F is front handle, 45D is the bar lengthI see frgg, freg, and other letters in the model numbers. What do they stand for?
That's too bad but given their lack of popularity in gas saws, it makes sense. Electric tools have always been their thing.
I was really looking at the 56cc saw. I wonder how parts availability will be.....
