Exactly!I dislike the "feel" of the easy-start system, it annoys the heck out of me, so unnatural.

I gutted the SLR muffler on my Dolmar PS-7310, it is now an empty can - the front muffler half is not even discoloring from heat.Hi,
Let me ask You something! I hope my English will strong enough to explain, what I would like to ask.
I have a Makita EA7900 . We all know about the SLR muffler. I want to remove it. I watch videos, forum pictures...
But one thing I am afraid of.. If I split the muffler, remove the SLR unit, the exhaust fumet (the heat) will go straight to the front plate without any obstruction and I am afraid it sooner or later the result will be,that the front plate of the muffler will burn out.
In the regular muffler has at least a pice of metal to block the direct heat , protect the front plate....

As such there will not be sufficient heat to burn out the muffler.
Just gut the muffler, best thing that ever happened to my PS-7310 is me ripping that SLR out!
Cheers
P.S.:
My PS-7310, recent picture, no SLR for years now - muffler shows no discoloration.
She is my long bar saw, therefore she does long bucking and noodling cuts.

I would have to look up old saved pictures of my mod, but if I remember correctly I kept the base of the SLR pipe as it serves as a spacer.Thank You! Great!
One more, if I may....
Did you throw out every piece of the SLR?
The inner frame of the unit (with holes) is not necessary to replace ?

Cut the tube off, keep the base!
If You have the means You can weld the base on, but technically it is held in place by the two bolt supports.Excellent! Thank You!
The "base" (with 2 holes) not need to weld to the back half of the muffler, am I right?

I had no issues reasembling the muffler halves without welding the SLR base on.
Give it a try without welding, if it won't stay in place give it a weld bead.
