Was thinking about the same thing, but looked through some piston and cylinders. Some have the ring ends also in the middle of the intake but didn't have that lip so I thought that it may have a different purpose.

Don't really have the tools nor the know how to machine a cylinder. Was thinking about widening the intake and exhaust and maybe some transfer work. Still learning, so babysteps it is.

Little dolmar to add to the collection. Buddy of mine saved it from the scrap yard for me. Just needs a carb kit, chain, and a good cleaning. The little air filter.cover has a chunk missing. Gonna have keep an eye out for one

Anybody who has worked on a dolmar ps9000/9010 could tell me what that lip is for on the upper part on the intake side? And if doing portwork, should it be removed or not?

Many SACHS-DOLMARs have the little nose. I always thought it was there to
direct the flow of incoming gas towards the overflows.
But supporting the lower piston ring seems reasonable as well, although
I'm not sure if the lower ring even does go down as low as the intake window.
What the nose definitely doesn't do is guarding the ring ends because these are located outside
of the intake port.

Interesting...... Question that remains if it could be removeved without a problem to create a potential "better flowing" system?

The ring definitely goes down far into the intake, so that little extension is supporting it. But, the ring ends are not in the intake port, and I don't think they would be even if you widened the port as much as safely possible considering the width of the piston skirt, so it appears safe to remove it.

As some of you might remember I found a Sachs-Dolmar 1100 electric saw recently
For all you DOLMAR and SACHS-DOLMAR fans I have another pretty obscure saw to show:

A SACHS-DOLMAR 1100, an electrical saw sold in the 1980s.
Apparently this is a yellow coloured variant of the SACHS-DOLMAR 260 or maybe
its predecessor SACHS-DOLMAR 200.
All these were Japan built relabeled SHINDAIWA saws.

I never ever have seen pics of this model before and never have found any
reference to it anywhere so I assume it hasn't been sold in quantities.

The saw runs quite fine.

I now found the corresponding saw in red clothes in comparably good shape and couldn't resist to by her.

SACHS-DOLMAR 260, electric saw also made in Japan by Shindaiwa.

And here are both of them together:
