According to my knowledge, all PS-5000 have windowed pistons combined with closed transfer ports.

Did you order genuine Makita/Dolmar or aftermarket pistons?

Genuine, through Makita.

Not sure about the ps5000 but on 7900/7910 and I think 5105 the newer pistons were updated from windowed to the style shown in the first pic. Both being bottom fed closed port cylinders the piston windows have no needed purpose and purportedly the new style is an improvement in performance.

Thanks, looks like the ps5000 range had four different 45mm pistons, though I don’t know which ones are windowed or not.

I’ll have to check which one I ordered, I thought it was 181 132 060, however 181 132 064 is what turned up, looks like there might have been updates through the mode run, doesn’t matter which one you order the latest revision arrives.

Piston ring retaining pin is offset from the port centre unlike the original.

Wider skirts 29mm vs 26.7mm.

lighter, measured with ring, without piston pin.

New non windowed 47.5 grams.
Old windowed 51.5 grams
Hyway husky 350 45mm piston 59.6grams.

Definitely a lightly built piston, relativity short and thin skirt, webbing & pin bosses not overdone.

Did a 9010 coil / flywheel upgrade on my PS-9000. Started on the first pull! I'm calling it a good day. Have run it in wood yet, it's wearing a 42" for stumps and the bigger stuff.
May attempt a muffler mod since I hear it is quite beneficial.
Sorry no pic for now.

I have been told a 79xx won't oil a 32''
I have yet to put one on mine to find out.

I once owned ONE Dolmar, but now I have a couple.

Does that mean I once understood but don't no more! [emoji14]

That would be great on T-shirts! :)
I once owned none and ran one at a gtg! I now have three! Would that be something of interest for shirts? I know a guy and could ask.

Why does the first smiley I used look different in Your quote?! o_O

A Tapatalk thing?

I have been considering to print my own Dolmar shirts, there are local to me options - but it seems I don't get around to it with all the work I have on my plate.
Maybe I'll get to it in the winter.

I'm glad Wilhelm put this thread in the new post searh with his recent posting.

I am trying to locate a HD filter spring clip retainer for my 7910. All I can find is the full conversion kit at HLSupply for $80.
I PM'd @166 but have never heard back.

I believe the part number is 038118450
TIA for any help provided.
