Ive got a Bing 49 question that this group may be able to help with.

The metering valve lever height looks way high compared to other carbs I’ve worked with. And I’m certain the saw is flooding but that may have something to do with my timing the flywheel with a universal coil.

Does this look right for this carb?

No. The top of the inlet control lever must be set flush with the top of the metering chamber.

makes perfect normal sense.
Plastic metering lever so it’s not bendy
Used the needle valve that came with the carb but it seems short in this set up.

I’ll look it it harder

There a nipple under the lever that the spring rides over. I don’t thing I had that right.
when it is right, it’s still not flush until the gasket is on.

I had an AM kit in there earlier. Took it out because the nipple, lots of nipples in this Bing, on the diaphragm was about 1.5 time thicker than the OEM. Which only about 1/2 mm.

put it together and starts on second pull.

Hi all, wondering if anyone knows anything about the two pistons that appear to have been used in PS5000 saws.

I ordered what I thought to be the windowed piston, however a non windowed piston turned up, not sure if the windowed piston is NLA.

Some pics from online.

Same piston as I have.

windowed version.

Mine is a closed port model, can anyone advise which piston is the right one, or why there are two?

Thanks.

Not sure about the ps5000 but on 7900/7910 and I think 5105 the newer pistons were updated from windowed to the style shown in the first pic. Both being bottom fed closed port cylinders the piston windows have no needed purpose and purportedly the new style is an improvement in performance.

Does anyone know of interchangeability of oil caps for a Sachs D 143.
MX? Not that I think that designates a difference. Ex. 133?
Askin for a friend @Shane¹

I'm also looking for the spring retainer for the HD filter upgrade for my 7910. Found the whole kit n kabootal on HLsupply for $80 but I only need the spring. I have the part# written down here somewhere ......

Does anyone on here know how to tell the difference between a 120 and a 120 super bottom end or is there a serial number cutoff when they started being 120 supers?

My guess would be a serial number cutoff.
Cases should be the same? Difference would be mostly top end?

Cases are definitely the same. The issue is I have several bottom ends with almost everything removed. Supposedly the stroke is 1mm longer on a super I was hoping there was a way to tell a difference without having to try to measure the stroke somehow

Cases are interchangeable between 120 and 120 S although there have been changes to the case when 120 S was introduced.
Another major change was the intake layout, e.g. airfilter, intake funnel & carb.
Hoods and tank were plastic with 120 S and cast metal with 120.
There is no serial number cut documented by the factory.

Is there a way to tell by looking at the crank? I have several bare cases with just cranks and I was trying to identify if it was a super crank or not
