How do you think it compares to a MS660?
I'd be happy to go take a 9010 out and cut against a 660 any day

9010 wins on torque and oiling. 660 on weight. I would like to build a 54mm 9010.
I found the adapter for sale at performanceoutdoorequipment.com. It's a dedicated Makita/Dolmar adapter.Mike does make a short adapter. Nate sells them if I'm not mistaken. The HD filter is better but the elbow is more restricted than the low top.
That's great! It looked like a good site for Dolmar parts and equipment. I'm sure I'll be back.Yep. Mike makes those
Good guy to deal with.I found the adapter for sale at performanceoutdoorequipment.com. It's a dedicated Makita/Dolmar adapter.
I'd like to hear some opinions on that as well.
You run a 660 side by side with a 9010 in stock form and the Stihl will stay in the truck every time. I know 660's can be stout once ported but we're are talking stock vs stock. I would still run my ported 9010 against anyone's 660 in a long bar challenge. It has so much torque I have to push an extra 40# onto it to get it to clean out and stop 4 stroking. The 9010's also don't have any problems with oiling a longer 36-42" bar. I've built 10-12x 660's this last year and still wouldn't give up any of my 9010's to have any 2x of the 660's. Now if you wanted to toss in a flat top 066 with a KS jug you might have a chance at cutting even with long bars against a 9010. 9010 balance is optimal with std 32" bar but only a little nose heavy with a std 36". Reduced weight will make a 36" bar balance very well. Parts can still be ordered from Makita/Dolmar since they still carry these in other countries. Ignitions are getting pretty pricey if you want to swap a 9000 to 9010 ign. Also the 9000 came with a Bing carb that ran pretty well but Bing carb kits can be a pain to locate sometimes. 9010's came with tilly's. All in all I think 9010's are one of the most under rated saws in 90cc size. A 395xp is about the only saw that will outrun a 9010 in a stock challenge.
Then again I only own 4x 9010's so how would I know any of this is true??? [emoji848]
395 handles better to me and is much smoother. The av on the 9010 is about like the 660.
The cheapest husqvarna 395 with 28" bar around here is approx 1250$Over here there's not much difference in price for new from certain dealers.
That is an investment. Want to make sure you have plenty of work lined up to keep that thing busy. The cheapest husqvarna 395 with 28" bar around here is approx 1250$
