Just got a PS5105 from my dad who has had nothing but problems with this 2014 “easy start” model. Coils and carb have been a regular bugaboo. Saw is in great shape, just has demons. Since I’m new to Dolmar, any insight on what it takes to do a proper exorcism of these demons? Everything I see online, there doesn’t seem to be a stock fix? Anyway, any insight is greatly appreciated.

LOL!! Yea, well it may be the fix if nobody else has something less destructive and more on the constructive side. Thanks for the first great idea.

The 5105’s were the corrected model of the 5100’s which came to lean from factory. It would help to know which carb you have and what form of limiters it has. Some were caps and some were epoxy. As for the coil the only problem most report is that they are limited which hinders proper carb tuning unless you know what your doing.

I may have been hiding some of those NOS bars for a project like this...

IMHO just by the shape of the bar's nose rollers it looks a bit strange on a 9010. Would probably look better on a pre-Sachs
Dolmar like a CA, CC or CT.
You don't happen to have one of these in your barn?

Only reason to paint over dye would be for better matching the dye doesn’t quite match up
Krylon has a plastic paint that looks really close in color but is hard to find and Rit dye has a color mixing chart that shows a color very close also. I’m thinking with the dye I can keep pulling it out of the dye to judge the color at intervals. I think an all teal saw is going to look good.

Impulse routed, cylinder on (Squish .024 no gasket.), muffler on, new fuel line and filter. Need ign and flywheel which are on their way as well as oil line.
Carb kit arrived today have to get it out of the mailbox. Have my Stihl dealer hunting for the needle.
Carb ran though ultrasonic cleaner.

Have to drill the holes out for the husqvarna mount studs in the clutch cover.

Getting there.

The meteor piston transfer holes were quite a bit smaller than OEM piston. They got opened up....
