Last fall I had a direct comparison of 115i vs. PS-5000. Seemed the 5000 was a magnitude more powerful than the 115, but
with a decent muffler mod the 115 came close up. Nevertheless the 115 is an aged construction and doesn't have a chance to beat
its successor. And this is stated by a die-hard 115i-fan!

In Germany the 115 has been available until fall 2018. Late 2018 I had to order a 115 from a dealer in Austria
since in Germany it was NLA but I wanted to put one of the last ones onto my shelf.

And very like the Volkswagen Beetle (which had an even longer productoin run, most if not all parts of the saw have been modified or altered through the years of production.
I agree the 115 gives up alot to the 5100/5105 but there is more to it than that. I like speed and power like the next guy, but the 115 just feels right. Never ran a saw that just "fit" like it does for me. Still gives me the most smiles per gallon of anything.

Hi folks,

more on the 116 super, cleaning and dismantling the saw currently is in progress but I'm able to share
the first findings about the saw.
But it looks like yours has a plastic recoil cover
what ignition has that one got
Also on the chain cover does the part number start 119 or 030
Plastic recoil is common to all 112 - 120 even the earliest 112 and 114 back in the seventies had plastic recoil.
The ignition is a BOSCH 204 007 919, there is no Dolmar part number on it. By its form factor it resembles the
ignition in the 116si and 120si only that at both sis the coil is blue rather than black.
OTH the coil in my PS-6800i and a PS-6000i I sold recently, the coils are black.
The flywheel is 114.141.500 which is standard 113/116 fare.

I can see hardly any differences between the 122-120 super and the 113-116 chassis, if chassis means crank-case. Clutch side is
interchangeable and magnet might differ by small nuances. It is noticeable however that the 116 super does NOT build on the
116 si -PS-6800i crankcase.

Crank-case flywheel-side is 112.111.020, clutch-side is 119.111.036 (though the last three digits are next to unreadable).
Both numbers are in no parts list I got hold on.

more to come..

... and coming.

As can be expected from the part numbers of the crank-case, there ist the small late-style 112-120 spike bar fitted on the body.

After cleaning.

Clutch cover is the late style 112-120 with PN 119.213.072

116S_clutchcover_partno.jpg

116S_clutchcover_inside.jpg

Chain brake is old-style non-full-wrap. The cover has mounts for an outer spike bar, the distance between the bores is 83 mm
thus 116si / 120si spike bar will NOT fit (that one needs 90 mm distance between drills).

So, I saved up a little saw money. Was trying to figure out what to do with it. Option 1: 7900 top end kit. However, probably ony 10% or less of my wood needs a 24" bar, and I hate handling the big stuff.
Option 2: I have a 2011 never seen wood 5105 I bought a few months ago which I would like to send to @Miller Mod Saws for the magic touch. I hadn't been on here in awhile, and was reading through all of the stuff I missed. Found an old ad in the classifieds and took............... Option 3. Clean now, low hour example of my most favorite saw. Had been there for a couple months. No love for the 115's I guess. That's okay. I could not be happier with it on display in my office. Thanks @fordf150

Yea there was good reason that someone picked all the 109/111/115/520 parts from the wooden crate in the trailer out back... some moron now has like 15 of this series.

Home with my new baby girl so I might get a dolmar/makita family pic this week.

Here’s the newest member of the dolmar/makita cult. @166 does makita/dolmar make a toy chainsaw?

I think the last year the 115i was imported here was around '96 or so. Last year I got my hands on a NOS 115i from '94 and a brand new 2018 model.

First models built in 1984 and the last built in 2018.

I’ve always been on the lookout for a 115iH

And another one I think @Lee H is after as well ending in G

I’ve always been on the lookout for a 115iH

A year ago I found one and made it one of my main working saws.
They aren't offered too often but still are much easier to find than, say, a 166
(although in german classified there have been three 166 within the last one and a half weeks).

Why don’t you buy 2-3 of those 166’s and send them with the 6800i covers. Which by the way thank you so very much for your assistance in procuring those! I’m pumped because I have a really nice 6800i that needs a nicer clutch cover.

Can Makita/dolmar germany get the “Makita DCS-6800i” clutch cover sticker? Pretty sure they are impossible to get here.

The "Dolmar PS-6800i" decals are listed in stock, as such there is a good chance the "Makita DCS6800i" are too. ;)

The DCS6800i isn't even listed at makita.de's spare parts section.
Maybe you'll be more lucky in other countries.
Does someone know the part number of the decal? I could query
my suppliers with it...

EDITED:
Starter assembly decal 980114094
Clutch cover decal 980114260

I didn't power up my PC to check if I have an IPL, I just snatched the number off Google - I hope it is correct.

D.Offen from kettensaegenshop went out of his comfort zone and sourced non NLA Makita parts I asked him about a couple times.
I don't know who Your dealer of choice is though.

Hm, thinking of..
Plastic recoil is common to all 112 - 120 even the earliest 112 and 114 back in the seventies had plastic recoil.
Early 117 and 119 may be exception and sport a metal cast recoil, I don't know since I don't have one.
Early 120 possibly too, at least they have metal cylinder & carb hoods.

I feel I am treated well at his shop
Full ACK!

for me, it depends on, I try to combine orders and when it comes to issues, where Detlev
isn't an option, and I can combine Dolmar orders with other suppliers I'll go e.g
bbti.de. They have a remarkably good database and search facility where you can
enter an NLA Dolmar part-no and they'll usually answer with the replacement number if any.
