Mike AKA Homelite 410 stopped by on Sunday to drop off a carload of saws, mostly plastic Poulan models. While a lot of folks might not appreciate a load of green and purple saws, these will allow me to keep quite a few locals running for some time to come. I should be able to finish up a couple of current projects and even put together a few additional runners to have for loaners or for sale.

He also provided a few Homelite themed items to add to the display.

Can anyone tell me how to service the oil pump on a Poulan 245a.. I have installed a new PTO side crank seal. When I open up the oil pump it had a little grease in it. Do I put grease all over the inside or what . Thanks

Check page three for the oil pump clean and lube in the attached file.

These seal numbers come from a reliable source but I haven't had to try them yet.

Poulan 245/306

-PTO seal: 530001936. Dichtomatik 068091VM .687"x.937"x.135" (OEM measurements). .688"x.938"x.172" (AM measurements. Suitable).

-FW seal: 530019042. CR 5542 or 5541. Timken National 471315 .562 X .999 X .256

-Oil pump seal: 530019035. Dichtomatik 06081SM

I don't know why but about half the time I get the fuel lines in the wrong place if a primer bulb is used .This one is a 446T Poulan pole saw .A cheapie which usually does fine except I use it so seldom the carb gets funky .I don't fool with it just buy another carb . Dang thing gave me fits but I think I've finally got it .Had to go to You Tube which is kind of embarrassing . I've got a real dandy hanger to clear out and a pole saw is the safest way to do it . Yesterday everything fell apart .Pole saw ,carb on the tractor ,plugged up toilet, flat tire on the zero turn .One came out just fine, rotate motor on the micro wave oven .

You're gonna have alot of pokers in the fire. That's almost as bad as a honey do list.

Thanks fossil for the info. I was lucky enough to get it all back together on the first try. This saw had so much rot in the gas tank I had to replace. Lot of holes through it. This thing has the bow type bar on it. Some got rid of the points and installed a electronic ignition on it. After a carb rebuild seals and new tank this thing runs GREAT. Thanks again for the help.

Spoke too soon the Poulan pole saw gave me fits .For some reason I had a brain fart and didn't route the fuel lines correctly ---several times duh .Once I did that and retuned the carb it got-it done .All in all for a little 2 cuber it does fine .I've got another 100 foot of trees to cut back on 250 feet of road frontage on the 5 acres of woods land I just bought . I tried with manual pole clippers but 2" limbs are just a tad too large to muscle through .The little Poulan will go through them like a hot knife through butter . If it doesn't rain I'll be done with that tomorrow .

More pole saw problems .Could not get the saw extension to couple up .About drove me nuts .Some how the external tube that goes to the power head got driven in too far .Took me two hours to figure it out and 5 minutes to fix it .That said for a cheapie of only 25-28 cc's it does good .
