I think you did very well for $200 NZ even if it needs help. In case you don't know, the DE80 is unique in that the carburetor is hard mounted to the cylinder with a boot around it to form a seal. It shares a lot of parts with the other 82 cc McCulloch saws including the piston and cylinder.

Mark

The only thing that seems to be missing is a set of dogs. The other motor is in surprisingly good condition. Anyway I'm very happy.

Curious if there is any preference over the walbro mdc or the zama m7 for a mini mac? My parts saw's carb is corroded inside and out and the butterflys are still seized after soaking in pb blast overnight. So I plan on buying a new carb or a clean used carb and throw a kit in it. I'm assuming either carb will bolt right up to a mini mac 120. Thanks

I like the Zama carb but parts are harder to get than the walbro. The walbro MDC is more readily available in both whole carbs and rebuild kits.

Fellas, I’m trying to put together a few bucket saws, a pioneer p60 and a promac 850

The 850 has a Zama c2

But I find myself wondering if anything would be better.
Looking for a screamer.

Does anyone here have any experience w/ a "Matco mvp 5000 silverline elite vaccum pressure pump tester kit". I need a pressure tester and prefer decent tools. The ones on ebay seem like china stuff but I'm not against buying one from ebay if they are a solid reliable tool out of the box.

It is a mityvac 8500 rebadged. I have both. Matco at work and the mityvac at home.

I have been working on some 10-10S saws lately. The first one came out nicely, sold right away. This one was a bit more challenging to finish as I kept getting a weep of fuel from the fuel tank, or so I thought. I first went with a new cork gasket, weeping. Change it for the rubber one (I like the rubber ones myself) but it was still weeping. Finally I put it together with Dirko HT sealing the tank gasket and thought I'd pressure test it before putting fuel in to be sure.

Did I mention that this one had the carburetor/fuel line conversion with the smaller diameter fuel line?

Turns out the sealer used around that "bushing" had failed, fuel was weeping through that fitting and leaking to the rim on the air box, through the black caulk, and coming out in the seam between the tank 1/2's. Why wasn't I smart enough to check that the first time????

Since I am getting low on good 10 Series fuel lines, I tried something new (for me) with a grommet and Tygon through the opening. It is still fit with the replacement carburetor with the smaller nipple.

This one is now good to go. I particularly like the was it restarts after you shut it off. It would be a great saw for a job that that required a lot of stopping and starting.

What size grommet did you use Mark? I haven't been able to find one that would fit. I end up using a piece of automotive fuel line as a filler which works pretty well but a grommet would be better.

Carb kit and fuel line came for my mini mac today. The carb is a walbro mdc 15. I've been trying to find out how high to set the metering lever, I thought it was level with the carb body but I can't find that info. In one of those pdf's I saw a picture of a straight edge going across the carb body then set it to just touching the straight edge. I can't find that picture at the moment so I'm starting to think that was for a different saw. Thanks for any help in that department.

The carb kit I got came with schematics which I knew but it also came with instructions for setting the metering lever. That clip that holds the vent? screen on next to the fuel nipple was a major PIA to get back in. Some little holes in that clip for split ring pliers would of been nice.
