Hey Studs,

Got a little 9 ton POWERHOUSE electric splitter.
I've ran it off & on for about 2 yrs now.
It's been a real back & time saver.

Keep it plugged it & putting in work in our garage.
How often should I change the hydraulic fluid and is there anything else to look at maintenance wise?
This splitter has really been reliable and handy...yet like anything its gonna need something sooner or later...just trying to stay ahead of the disaster curve.

Appreciate it.
Reg

I apparently couldn't read was just looking at the pics. Picked this 27 ton Gravely up for some splitting at the house. Will get some action pics soon.

Splitter was out at best friend Lefty's place. Started with a chicken coop fire, he lost the building and 8 chickens. Fire dept got it out but an ember must have found a place to hide. Lefty checked things several times, but sometime between 3:30 and 5:30 the barn started on fire, total loss. Lefty lost saws, tons of chains, his climbing and tree gear, tools, trailer, tires on his IH 460 tractor and over 40 years of memories with a lot of them being 1 of a kind and homemade. Big loss and it is very hard on him and his wife. I need to get my 6421-oiler fixed and plan on gifting it to him to replace is 044. We have an offer for some chains from @JimBear but waiting to see if there are any we can salvage plus I have some here.
Not sure on the splitter, debating on replacing with the same or waiting on insurance and maybe do an upgrade as he wants wedge on the beam with an adjustable 4-way on it.

If y'all decide to put anything together to help, count me in.

Thanks, I know there will be tons of support from the OBT crew. He really loved that 044 but I think the Makita will make a nice replacement plus I have his Husky 261 that I put a top-end on maybe 10 years ago. Just need to get off my rear and replace the switch that I already have.
Thanks again everyone.

Thanks for the offer, just waiting for the smoke to clear at this time. Edwin said he would look at the Makita of mine to fix the oiler. Could be cool to find a great deal on another 044 as he did love that saw and is kind of a Stihl guy.
Trust me, when the time comes, I will let others know. Don't want to derail the splitter thread.

New Predator 15.6 HP replaces the old Briggs after rod came apart. Does not even slow down while splitting.
@Wood Doctor is the lucky operator of this old tank.
