Good morning all. Have the day off of work today because I'm dealing with some costly issues. Me an Dad got his 572 broke in and kept hearing a ticking noise as if the rockers were loose....keep in mind this has a hydraulic roller cam and roller rockers...so the next day off came the valve covers and come to know, Five lifters wouldn't plunge no matter how hard you pushed; off came the intake manifold and all the rockers, push rods, and roller lifters. Out of the 16, 5 were seized solid. We even took a hammer and punch to the plunger but they wouldn't even budge! Everything was adjusted and done according to Comp cams how to videos....since they are comp cams lifters....and obviously something is screwed up with the info. They say to adjust then to 1 full turn of pre-load...well, according to another cam company that is way to much. So these are going back and a new set have been ordered from a different company. Thank God this is a roller cam or it would have been flatter than a pancake. And for my luck I have comp cams flat tappet lifters in my rebuilt 292 that hasn't been ran yet! So I'm taking it apart today to check over those while I have my engine builder here. lol Crazy stuff folks. So my review for comp cams bbc roller lifters is 1 star. Being that they were $440 for the set they should have worked fine, but I guess that's to much to ask for.

Comp cams is still a private company. A phone call to Memphis might be in order.

lol. The tech from comp said he reclaim ours and send a new set, but dad had already ordered a new set from Howards. But we just compared the two and the howards may be to tall now. lol! SO, we may be going with another set of Comp's after all because dad doesn't want to get another set of pushrods.
