I need a boom mower to do drainage ditch banks but my checkbook says...................hell no!!!
Do you have guys around that mow right of ways? Around here there’s a few guys that’ll pick those type of jobs up I used to get 100$ an hour. I’m sure it’ll be more than that now but I could make good time in an hour. Might be an option. No way I’d own a boom mower without having a serious amount of work to use one.

Lucky You!
For me an hour is often less than 60 minutes and I end up working two. :(

Age doing its thing I guess.
I would tell people the price. Then once they saw how much was done in an hour I really should’ve charged more. For example I hit some concrete one day that was under some bushes I couldn’t see. Broke a blade. Blades for that mower cost 300$ each. So for myself considering my mower isn’t in great shape these days I backed out of the custom work for now

Was my 59th yesterday. Had a muffin and wished I had more Saturday birthday's when I was a 20-something.
I wish you and all others many happy birthdays down the road. I remember when my oldest son asked me "How is it going Dad...how does it feel to be 50"..............I laughed and said "Ask me tomorrow cause I am still 49 today"

When he was a teen he used to call me "baldy".....
I chuckle now cause I have more hair than he does

Now I want to be clear the pic I posted was one that showed up online and I "borrowed it"

Morning slackers! Still have a little rain moving through but we finally have a few days of spring like temps instead of it being in the 80s! I’ve got a doctors appointment mid-day so it screws the entire day up for the most part. We got to spread some fertilizer and spray as soon as we get a good day. Have a good one folks.

We’ve spent the last few days putting new blades and a few other bits in the finishing disc. Third set in 20yrs. Our ground eats iron.
IMG_3305.jpeg

Mostly done finally. Need to tighten the gangs and pay attention to a few leaky hoses and two weeping cylinders.

I ordered a 1” to #5 spline adapter so I can build a LARGE breaker bar to properly tightening these gangs. Also have a few spline sockets coming. Being able to put a 10-12’ pipe on the big breaker bar is going to be a lot better than doing the same with a 48” pipe wrench and hoping it doesn’t slip off

Wow I thought we had it bad. These started at 22 and the large ones in the back were around 18 with the front ones being around 17. It was time a few years ago but it just didn’t happen until this year.

Rocks suck. No way around it.

When me and my wife first got together I was working a field behind the house after dark and she said it looked like I was throwing fire crackers off the back of the tractor

White eggs are Runner duck, green are Wild.
Going to start leaving the eggs in the nest they chose in hopes either one of them will sit firm and hatch some super cute ducklings. 🥰

Got a chicken hen sitting on 8 eggs right now. According to math they should hatch out Friday. I wrote the date on the eggs so I didn’t confuse and pick up the wrong ones

7 new steak seeds showed up over the weekend for summer camp here on the farm. They'll get 2% of their body weight in grain every day along with all the fresh grass and hay they want. They'll get wrapped and frozen in late October once they hit 1,350lbs. or more. Pasture has really greened up over the last couple weeks and they'll get rotated through 9 different paddocks every few days to keep them in fresh grass. Right now they range in size from about 475 to 575 lbs. each.

That'll work, my first Runner ducks had a hen stepmom.
She was very caring, but they didn't understand a single cluck she made.

Buuuuut, the boys have a serious chick fetish going on! 🫣
