The last time I helped chop corn there was an 826 IH pulling a 2 row chopper. Hauling we had a 1066, 300 & 560 pulling old wooden barge box wagons, we had to use silage rakes to pull the silage into a blower that going into a vertical concrete silo.

Things has changed a bit

400 ton yesterday for a friend of my brothers & 400 ton in the pit for my brother today. Not a massive amount but enough to get them by for winter. Todays 1st patch was almost a mile from the road to the field & a 3 mile trek to the pit. 2nd patch was only 1/2 mile from the road & 1/2 mile to the pit.

It’s a Ford 8870, apparently made just before the merger. It’s Dad’s & has been a very dependable tractor. If I remember correctly he bought it with around 5000hrs on it & it’s pushing 11,000 now.

Little incubator orphan runner duck is trying to fit in, but all 6 seniors & juniors are scared of it.
So it seeks human company for comfort.
Growing fast and is healthy though, that is all that matters right now.

I introduced the duckling to "the big water" yesterday.
At first it didn't know what is going on, but quickly found its inner duck and started enjoying the swim and bath.
The duckling is not yet "waterproof" so it starts soaking and sinking, but it knows when to exit the water on its own.

My youngest brother had an 8670 NH for a few years it was pretty solid also but lacked a couple features that dad’s has. The one I can remember is the setable transmission shift option.

You can set it to up/down shift 1-3 gears with to touch of a toggle rather than slapping the actual shift lever around. I liked it for planting & tillage applications.

Fire wrenched the inner race to remove a bearing on a bush hog today. Dad thought that he had burnt up the clutch in one of the tractors, but just needed adjusted luckily. Sliding PTO shaft wasn't sliding correctly and over time had pushed the shaft out of the carrier bearing. Bearing should have been against the shoulder on the smooth shaft. I was running the tractor to test the clutch adjustment and dad has the bush hog set super low. Hit a couple of ruts in the field and sheared one of the U-joints. Kinda worked out since I was able to find this problem. Parts getting ordered and should be back together later this week. Going to try to cut hay next week some time.

I've got about 15 acres to cut yet. Gonna get on that in the morning.
Guessers are calling for some rain maybe in the next week here. Told dad to drop it next week since I will be on vacation first week of October and will be there to keep things going.

Got a little hay to cut I’ll get on it soon

John Deere combine won’t start. Cranks over but no start???? Not sure where to begin Gonna do some more looking but might have to call someone

Well that stinks, is she getting fuel? I’d bleed the fuel system all the way to the injectors. Easy for me to troubleshoot sitting reading my phone while I’m having another cup of coffee!

My guess is no but I’m thinking injector pump isn’t opening. Wanna check a couple things first. This pump doesn’t have the manual lever so I really can’t tell

But no she’s not getting fuel I’m certain
