Both the bulls I have are good disposition which makes working around them more relaxed.
Spot on, nothing worse than having to be hyper alert around bulls.
Aware yes, nervous & constantly gauging distances, looking escape routes & trying to keep an eye on the bull while doing something else, no.

New member here on this forum. I’m 16 and often work at my grandma’s hobby farm doing farm chores, farm upkeep, and lawn care. She has 5 horses, 1 of which is my mom’s, and 9 cows. Our neighbor has 4 cows. We have 14 chickens. As far as tractors go we have a Deutz DX90, Jianghuai 50-Tractor, and International 584.

View attachment 409736View attachment 409737Got the loader stuck last night. Skid loaders don’t go too well in mud. Found this thing hiding out in the shed. Scared the 💩 outta me. It was dark 😂

My buddy Chase has a pair of steel tracks he is looking to sell.

If you have filled tires, they work great but if your tires have air in them the tracks are a PIA to take off/put on to repair the tires.

I bet that calf was a startling find.

Yeah in the dark. It was unexpected to say the least. I run air in my tires. Those filled ones are ok but the ride is already pretty rough. 😂 those old case loaders and many others are notorious for throwing you around

Does the DX90 have the older oil cooled engine?

Oh, and welcome.

Culled my herd down to 20 momma cows. These are some of the best. Most of these just had a calf weened about 6 weeks ago and held their weight very well through the winter. 9 have just calved.

I dropped down to a dozen or so mommas a couple years ago. Used to have more. They can be a handful. I’m just in it because I’ve always had cows my whole life. Wouldn’t Look right without a small heard walking around out there. IMG_5574.jpeg

You cow/calf pair folk are a different breed. I like working with cattle but the calving in the mud and cold isn’t for me. I had a dozen registered Black Angus mamas for a decade or so and had a decent time doing it but was very happy to load them up and deliver them to my brother in law when he wanted to start in on a beef herd.

I've only had to pull three or four calves ever. If you are having to pull calves, you are either breeding your heifers too young, or you have the wrong bull. The heifers that have trouble calving get sold asap.

Second this year. Now that I have some better genetics I will start rebuilding to about 50 to 60 mamas again. Currently about 38 or so, but some are older and I don't know if they will have a calf this year or not. If not then I will try to put some weight on them and send them to market.
