New idea made some pretty cool stuff. Had a spreader with flails on the back. Worked well
We fill our corn crib with a new idea elevator and pick it with a two row new idea picker. It’s old school but it works for us. We had one of those flail spreaders too but it was too wore out to handle the heavy stuff.
Selling my little New Idea baler. I've made 100s of bales with this old beast....but we've outgrown it.
My grandfather used to run a similar new idea baler way back in the day. Hardly see those gray balers anymore.

I broke the floor chain in mine. I repaired it and took it to a sale. I had spread some heavy stuff with it for years. Chain was getting thin. Kinda wasn’t worth fixing. One of those things I use once every couple years

Don't get net wrap down here. It's not a good thing. The second the monitor throws a code, shut down the PTO. Got it fixed for dad and rolled some more up before it got too damp. Need to adjust the the belts again and replace some wear parts before too long.

Thought about a Deere baler in the future. Like no time soon. What you think of yours? I like new Holland but I basically order all my parts on interwebs. I’ve got very good Deere parts close.

I am not Tony but from my experience with them they make a better tighter bale than a Vermeer.

My brother has a 467 or 468, I can’t remember & the there is a local guy that runs 2 newer Deere balers that does a lot custom baling hay & he does a lot of corn stalks in the fall also.

Doesn’t Vermeer make the JD baler?

Been pretty happy with it for what we do. Takes a bit of learning curve with a used one especially, just like everything else. Really need to use a super penetrator type bale spear to not have it cling to it and make it easier to drop on a trailer. One thing I do know is that I would look for one with a silage kit to make it easier to bale when moisture content is not ideal. If you are trying to push later into the evening you have to watch it because it will begin to have trouble starting the bale at higher speeds.
I rolled up 120 today. Weather guessers are barking about rain tonight & tomorrow.
Dad started yesterday afternoon before I got off work and caught the net in the lower parts and pickup. I got there and got it apart and cleaned up and back running for about 50 bales total. He didn't drop but about half of the fields luckily. Guessers were saying no rain until Sunday but we got hit with about half of it still unrolled. I had almost an 1 and a quarter last night and he was looking at 3/4. Still got to get it off the fields anyway as soon as we can.
