And here.....but a green tractor and black cattle.

Yes tomorrow i will get a snap of the cows it ain't so dry out there

We usually gotta get the cattle in about the 1st week in November as the ground is usually saturated with rain this year a different story our borehole sink hole for water went dry this week never happened before the water table is lowest for years

But it's been good for getting timber out now the sap is down

Any benefit to this breed over the standards out there say charolais Hereford angus? They are good lookin beasts I'll say that.

I'm thinking about getting back to all Herefords cattle ain't worth a ton now as all you fellas are aware. Black is still what brings the money but I liked the big Herefords myself What is everyone raising now just black angus? Almost everything I have is angus Hereford cross. I personally always bred Hereford cow to a black angus bull. The heard is now mainly crossed with a few regular black angus cows and a cross bull

I've always liked Angus cows. Good mothers, easy breeders, easy keepers never had much health issues either. Can't say that about my experience with Hereford cows. I think the show ring ruined the maternal side of the Hereford breed sixty years ago and they never recovered. But I sure like a Hereford bull. They just flat do their job.

It's become fashionable to keep all the older breeds of cattle , sheep and pigs and the plus ,side is they don't need the grain like the continentals
Down side is slower growing and less weight t the end
For years most farms who kept a few head of cattle relied on the dairy farms for there calves but now dirt is gone too much towards Holstein
So those suckers are too narrow in the hind quarter

They do look good. Minus the horns. I hate horns.

I have a lot of Holstein influence in the herd from breeding the dairy heifers to Angus bulls. I've tried Simmental, Saler, Gelbviegh, & limousin crosses on those and keep coming back to Angus. Really liked the Limousin but some of them would just be nuts. Been playing with some red Angus but it's been hard to find quality bulls without paying through the nose.

I'm eating on a dairy cow now. It's delicious but those steaks just aren't the same as the beef cattle Still delicious but not the same

Always liked Jersey the best. They just don't dress out.
