I’d be very happy with those results. I just baled 800 small bales on 10-12 acres which is probably a little under what you got. My field could have been thicker but any thicker around here and you might need 4 or 5 days to bale hay.

We got 110 bales off of a 25 acre field. That seems pretty damn good to me....but my brother in law said he figured there would be more.
4+ bale acre is pretty darn good, makes a guy feel like it’s worth while. You never know what the weather will do so your 2nd & 3rd aren’t guaranteed.

Did you throw any fertilizer on it ?

This was a pasture that went unused from last fall. No fertilizer. He is gonna lime it, and turn some feeder calves in on it soon.

Yes sir Orpingtons. Will breed these guys too and eat the roos
I built my parents a coop few months ago. Been looking for eggs any day now. I know there’s those island reds couple leghorns 4 Americana’s 3 more varieties I don’t know the name of. They always wanted chickens. We used to raise meat chickens 80000 at a time. I hated them so when our equipment /houses got worn out I stopped dealing with them. I’ll try to snap a picture here in a couple. I’m here now for lunch

Hope they start laying for your parents shortly. I have 3 Rhode Island reds as well, they are good layers and friendly almost pet like, I’ll let them hens die of old age
