I have a hunch he will not bargain. It could be time to bargain.

Between the 038 and 038 special, I would take the special. It has a larger piston and more power. I had a coworker that both saws and I liked the 038 Super better. Good saw, good power, not bad to work on. I ended up having to split the case on the 038 Super to replace the bearings and was a quick and easy process. My coworker was using 28" bars on the saw and that made them a little front heavy, if using a lot, I would probably put a 24" bar on it. Parts are still plentiful.Anything special about this one? It's tempting me.
This one's an 034 Super. 61ish CC. There much difference in it and the 038 Special, other than 10 CC? I'd probably port it so it'd handle a 24" bar. That'd justify spending the big bucks to replace the 24" on my ported 044 with a 28".Between the 038 and 038 special, I would take the special. It has a larger piston and more power. Shoot...yeah, I overlooked that small detail. I think the 034/034 Super situation will be similar, the super is a little larger piston and a bit more cc, probably puts it up closer to an 036. I don't think the 034 will have an issue with a 24" even without porting. An 026 will handle a 20" bar so jumping to an 034 should handle the 24 with no issues.his one's an 034 Super. 61ish CC.
That's kind of what I've found. Supposedly Stihl went to a "better" cylinder design on the Super. Larger intake and maybe other stuff. Same cylinder as the 036 if I'm not mistaken. I like the Stihls from this era.Shoot...yeah, I overlooked that small detail. The thing is missing a knob on one of the handles, that makes it a piece of junk, I can take it off of your hands if you want...scored this sweet drill press and stand on craigslist, dude threw in a bunch of big drill bits, most are chicago-latrobe, good usa made stuff. tiny bit of play in spindle so ill probably have a little work to get it nice and tight but for $100 i think i scored.
thepic makes it look mint, but its well used. somebody gave it a rattle can paint job at some point, the handles are all buggered up, one of em is just a threaded rod welded in thereThe thing is missing a knob on one of the handles, that makes it a piece of junk, I can take it off of your hands if you want...![]()

yep im gonna keep my eyes out for one. had the thought of just making one out of a 12” faceplate but id end up with more into that than the whole thing to begin with lol.A good table might turn up, if you are patient.
