You don't just set the idle do you lol.
But yes, that's the bummer about it, it's a bit suspect.
My buddy is a stihl guy, there's a good chance it was a chini P&C too. Wouldn't surprise me if that isn't why it would't idle .

Pull the cover off and look and see if it is an oem or am jug.

That is a really nice 390 you have Mike, the one that got away, the reason I had to build Pearl was that saw, and I am a little jealous that yours is ported, but Pearl will see our friend soon when I visit for the full treatment.

New ported 385 p/c would be a lot of fun! Any idea which carb you have on it? I like the tilly but lots of folks like the walbro

I would probably go with the 390 if ported unless someone said that wasn't a good idea and explained why.
Got the Wally World carb.

Yes, one never knows the whole path, just that which is lit before him .
That cover reminds me of my "beat up" 372, it's got an AM recoil on it without a sticker, she's a fun saw.
