No, but I want one. I had the opportunity to buy two of them late last summer, but I wasn't ready, if I would have know I could do a deal like that I would have got them.

Trade him my 2188, sell the 550's locally for $300 each, and take that $900 to buy a new 390 or find a good 2188. Kind of seems a wash to me, unless I could stumble across a good deal on another 2188.

I didn't see shipping in your math, that's sure to eat a bit up, and one if the reasons I don't do much trading.
Could have bought a brand new 2188 for 750 plus shipping (think it was) on AS.

Exactly. That's all local wheeling and dealing. His pricing is on the money, there's no meat on the bones for me.

I picked up my 2188 from a local stihl dealer. It was a trade-in from a local logger who takes care of his stuff. He traded in one 2188 for two Husky 390's. (Our local stihl dealer can order husky through one of their other OPE lines, but they only stock stihl). $500 cash if I would just take that ugly red saw off of their hands.

I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough.

When jreds come up for sale over your way they're usually priced quite well, bummer is not much of a seller's market, but that's were the forums work great.
I like my 550, I've had a good number of them and enjoy working with them, although if I'm cutting firewood I'd rather be running a 346/353. I may be selling my 550 and a couple stock 241's this year though as I grabbed up a port 241 so for work saws they are all just a bit to close to one another.

I built and flipped a couple toasted 550's last winter. I liked them for limbing, but my Dolly 5100 is a better bucking saw, in my opinion. I have another builder that needs a piston, clutch cover, and maybe some other smalls. I need to tear down and check the bottom end, but it felt good at first check. I might just keep it, whenever I get around to it.
