Far as I know as long as it's not stolen you can carry it. Kind of like me carrying the wife's pistol or vise versa.

"Permit required for purchase from an individual if purchaser does not have a CPL or an FFL and the transaction is not processed through an FFL dealer. Handgun sales are required to be registered to local law enforcement. Michigan is a "shall issue" state for concealed carry. Open carry is generally permitted".
