What do you need parts wise?

I acquired a 064 basket case. Half disassembled. Definitely missing some things. Some items like bar nuts and studs, miscellaneous screws here and there. Probably going to need a coil, I don’t see any spark yet. Pretty much everything rubber on the saw. Rings bearings, seals, piston, gaskets. Don’t know about the cylinder yet.
Carb kit, bar & chain. That’s the obvious stuff. It will be awhile before I know about oil pump, clutch stuff, recoil, brake band, etc. I got to get it all apart and make sure I have a good case to build off of before I start spending a lot on it. I have done 2 saws previously in the same condition so I am at least for real, and I want a nice 064.

Here’s one I did a few years ago, 036. It was in worse shape than the 064 I have now. Ended up with quite a bit of Huzzle stuff on it. It’s a good running saw though. Good enough so my son doesn’t seem to want to return it .

The 72cc 1988 044AV was Hans Peter Stihl's baby. That saw was the game changer in the industry in my opinion.
But there was one other saw introduced 4 years earlier in 1984 that was a game changer.
The Shindaiwa 680 at 68cc and 12.7 lbs and 4.8hp.
That saw I demoed when it first came out and it had the best power to weight of any saw I ever ran at the time. It was rated for 28"b/c. Even had an optional full wrap hamdle.
The 630 sered, 266 Husky didn't come close. The 67cc Stihl 038 Super was over 15 lbs. The 68cc 041 and 042 were over 16lbs PHO.
Three years later in 1987 the 13.7lb/ 4.7 hp 268XP still couldn't match the 1984 Shinny 680 in power to weight.
Guaranteed Hans Peter was watching this saw.:)

I probably have some of those parts. Not anything used, it’s all new so might not be the best way to go for a saw your replacing a lot of parts on. I can look later this week.

Okay you guys made me do it. I went out to the shed and got a couple of my relics. Foreground a red eye 66. Wrap handle is a TM ported 64. The other two are fairly nice 64's. Nothing real fancy here. Enjoy.

I have run Mason's saws several times. They are no joke! AND he knows how to sharpen chain!
Anyone at any GTG where he is present also knows he cuts wood all day, afternoon, and night. Til he either runs out of fuel or we yell at him to stop. LOL
