The damn secondary water pump blew, and I found where the mice had made my car into a brothel.
This is where I am at now, gotta pull the valve covers next, and reseal them while it's apart

Make sure your valve cover gasket kit comes with the half moon seal.

What is that Dave?

It's for the timing chain tensioner. They also make a tool to keep tension on the chain while you change the seal. Be sure to change that seal they are bad about leaking. They are kind of a pain as you can barely see them. I found this out thru an audi forum. A quick Google search will explain everything in detail.

I bought a whole kit from fcp euro I believe it's called online. Bought a whole kit that came with water pump with a metal impeller instead of the junk plastic one they come with, thermostat, timing belt, timing belt tensioner, timing belt idler, serpentine belt, and valve cover gaskets. All OE parts

here's the one I bought. It had mixed reviews but worked just fine for me. You can spend twice the money for a audi brand one but I don't see the point.

That link is just the tensioner tool

The tensioner seals are a more common leak than the gasket. It's the metal seal under your cam chain tensioner that goes bad. Here's a screenshot of the tool, gasket and cam tensioner pads. I do to them while doing a timing belt... It's a lot more work than just vc gaskets but like Dave said... That's your leak.

The cheap tool is no worse than a factory one. I've broken both. The key is to go easy on them....
