I've talked to quite a few old cutters that worked in that mounts St. Helens salvage, those guys got there belly full of blow downs. Most of them all said they used carbide chain to buck off the root balls.

That was almost 40 years ago...

Remember some of these places @HYPERSAWS ? Love it love it. From that to the burn, eh?. I can’t complain. I’ve had pretty good cutting lately, and I’d take burn over blowdown any day.

Most of that unit in the bottom picture was actually pretty decent, just some bad spots.

It was and most of the second growth up there is on the ticket some of it has already been clear cut.

Yes I do. It's good to have a good partner in strips like that for sure

I'm sure you have . I think you said you hand cut for 10 years?.
If you hand cut in the west coast for that long I'm sure you have sawed some dirt coated wind throws lol

This is from a few years back it was spread all over the place in one place it laid over a whole acre.

Yeah, now that I’m fully back to H&W, I’m still looking for a cutting partner...I wonder who I could get to come back here?...

We worked a few of those in south county - Mainly around Tiller and Glendale, by the reservoir. I like those cuts, especially when you break out on top. It looks like you got pretty decent wood here and there too. The wood around Galesville wasn't all that great but the wood on the two Jackson creek sales was really nice - part of it was salvage from all fires they had up there in '98.

I’ve certainly been surprised by the quality of some timber in areas I wouldn’t have expected.

This part of the job isn’t the best timber, but overall it’s pretty decent:

This is random, but @HYPERSAWS , do you remember when we saw that clown on the side of the road when the whole clown crap thing was going on? I wouldn’t go down into my strip until well after daylight that day, lol.

The good about cutting in burned areas is you don't have to deal with as much brush.
