I have not tried it and never will for $72 for 5 gallons. I use 90 non ethonol in all my outdoor equipment, 2 stroke and 4. Higher octane is a waste of money unless you actually need it for a very high compression engine.

Remember that "high octane" fuel actually has slightly less energy (BTU/#) than lower octane fuels, just greater resistance to pre-ignition. Unless you have a very high compression engine and/or have the ability to really lug it down, high octane is not really beneficial.

About the only time I've used souped up gas was in a Harley Sportster chopper that was punched 90 thou over .It would over heat if ridden much in town much and if you shut it off it was 35 minutes before you could start it again .It was kicker so that wasn't much fun .It seemed to do better in that account using Cam II .That was back in shall we say my wilder days .

I tested (for years)Shell Vpower racing 100 octane and BP Ultimate 100 octane on my KTMs,huge compression and performance engines,690 SM and Superduke 990.Zero difference in performance, what could it do to a chainsaw engine?Nothing is to much to say, less than nothing.I am speaking for fuels that cost 2$ per littre in my country.Forgot to say that regular fuel in Greece is 95 octane, they say its 5% ethanol but i believe its more than that, around 10%.

I'm guessing that was due to the race gas running much richer.

Generally it does, but there are lots of different new fuels these days. Certain fuels even though a higher octane can vaporize at any temp, giving a better burn with less octane.

260 GT Plus (linked by the OP) is oxygenated. 260 GTX is not oxygenated. I have used the GTX, because i can get it at a local race track (like 8 bucks a gallon). Didn't really like the way my saws ran. Not sure why. Now i get E-free when on road trips.
