the most impressive saw I have ever run was a mmws 395. I remember standing back up from the first cut with a "holy *s-word, did that just happen" moment. So I repeated, "yup, it did!"

Don’t really need light weight for stumping.
I wouldn’t buy an expensive bar either, dirty rotten wood lot of time.

Did they get the cases fixed where they weren’t breaking when pinched with 42” bars and longer in Canada and southwest Alaska on the 661? I know that seemed to be a problem for a little while running longer bars. I’d pick a 395 hands down.

I compare the 390 to the 660/661 they both sporty light weight 90cc saws for bucking/felling where weight & performance counts. The 395/2100 are totally different saws built heavy duty in the 100cc class. They are made to enjoy pain & suffering & endure it, not to look great on a spec sheet.

On the performance side, I've run a 661 ported by Randy that is owned by Mark, and seen the TM 661, and they are both as impressive as any 394/395 I have seen. Regarding the oiler and durability, I won't argue it.

However, not all stumping is done on lever ground and under ideal conditions, so I still prefer less weight if it gets the job done. I guess the "best" depends on you and your circumstances.

I stump with an 088.

But what you girls need to ask yourselves is what advantage a 661 has over a 395 when it comes to cutting stumps.

I'll answer it for you...nothing.

Buy a 395.

If it's not too heavy for you.
Tell em Ryan, I'm too pissed

What does it mean to have a more aggressive clutch. I've never heard that term before. Enlighten me, I'm a slow poke. Like, it try's to beat your ass if you step on its fresh white nikes?
not sure its from the clutch but yes mmws 395's don't take no s word!

While I am not 100% on this, I believe what Mason meant was that the clutch on a 395 has a more positive engagement and is less likely to slip under load than the clutch on the Stihl.
