So I decided to advance the timing some more, it didn't feel as strong as I thought it should....
Decided to swap out the comp release for a better one and check the compression while I was there....
About the third pull it stopped abruptly (the saw not the gauge) which made my busted rib quite unhappy.....
Upon further investigation.....

I've had my compression tester check come out once and wreck a cylinder.
You may want to check the threaded adapter to yours.

Looked at it it's fine....
Bottom end looks / feels fine....
Just a few dents in piston / cylinder squish area...
Not sure if I should feel lucky or unlucky!!!

Did you figure out what it was and where it came from?
I believe I have...

Looked like the same thickness and color of the throttle plates in the carb...

There was a golden glitter in here...

Hard to see in pic, there are some strange markings in the cover that I think were made by those bits rattling around...
Some "extra parts" left in manufacturing I guess...

I built a 372 from a box of parts once. After about a month and piece of steel went thru it and trashed it.

I could only figure that it was a piece of the old rod bearing that ended up stuck in the pleats of the air filter while the saw was all dumped together in a box.

I remember something about that.... You did a thread on that if i recall correctly...

Sometimes no matter how careful / diligent you are.... "stuff occurs"... :nusenuse:

Lucky, not your middle name this week. Are standing next to me? The sky is falling.

My mother always told me "if it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any at all"....

Although in this case I'm lucky it happened during a compression test and not in the middle of a piss rev!!! LOL
