The one dealer says they put in a stihl order every 2 weeks or so. If i want to wait i can put my order in without shipping. Always seem to be a day late. "We just sent in an order, sorry"

Some of these dealer guys just try to make more, so they tack this stuff on. One dealer told me unless he was "placing an order" I would have to pay for shipping. I said, "No thanks."
All dealers are not the same. Try picking out a part you need and call three or four different dealers. You may be surprised. The prices they sell at are not the same.
In the last 5 years some parts here locally have gone up significantly. Not really sure why. Just my 2 pennies.

A wise old saw shop owner once told me "Remember, the list prices provided by the manufacturer, are recommended, not required."

I would imagine it's plandemic related. I've never had any problem ordering 1122 parts. Worst case Ontario you call a bigger shop like Madsen's.

I have one local dealer (Husqvarna/Stihl /Echo) He tacks on 30% to MSRP!! I know this is a fact for the Husky parts. I had on occasion called and asked for him to order a part "next time you order" while I'm logged in to the Husqvarna dealer website to give him the part number. Thankfully asked how much for the throttle cable for a 580BTS, he says $78. NO,NO I don't need the whole pistol grip assembly, Yes, Just the throttle cable assy with the kill wires wrapped in the proctive sleeve. No thanks

I paid shipping for that one item and still saved like $25. I don't call them anymore. No reason to step on parts that much

Yeh that’s the same here, my local dealer always top dollar for parts.
He aims at the no questions asked customer. if you ask questions, he mumbles. When you say I can get it for xxx he almost matches it.. but always cheeky about it...
I’ve got a few bits I’ve got to collect soon. I will write it all down so I can let you know.
And I will find the online prices
The best bit will be if he don’t drop the price, I will say ad it to my mates account. He gets a 30% discount...
My mate said I could do it :campeon:

My main shop (Stihl dealer) is under new ownership. The previous owner would add your parts to their “stock order” and charge nothing for shipping. They were charging what the northeast part catalog listed so I would get fair deals. The new owner charges $7.00 minimum for ALL non-stock items. It suuuckkks. I told them that I can get parts to my door at lower prices.

My Husqvarna dealer is still doing the stock order thing. They’re awesome.

Some places don’t get it; I’ll get my parts, plus oil, plus sealants, plus screws, plus plugs.. and I like that generator, mower, saw, etc. etc.

I said it a while ago...This used to be Stihl country. Stihl dominated the area in sales, support and service. Now the dealers aren't willing to work with customers, keep stock of regular items. And whats worse, the cost rape.

The big husky dealership is taking all their business with their pricing. Not only that, they actually stock service items for models in production and popular past models. No rapey prices on anything except that piston/cyl kit I was gonna order thru them...whew. Got that bish thru HL on sale lol

Seems like all the saws around here are either trash from the box stores or a Stihl. The Echo dealer went out of business. There are 3 Stihl dealers around me. They all charge list. I run a mower shop and tried to get a break on prices. All of them said no. I have a good rapport with one of the dealers but they say Stihl sets the prices.

Stihl does not set prices. My dealers are good or bad. Plenty around here to pick from.

The parts problem is partly the dealer and dealers dropping old part numbers but the factory just conveniently leaves out the superseded number. It was just a common mistake

I can run down three different 084 clutch part numbers. Most you will never find. The new style springs and complete clutch bolts right on from a new 880. What's better... who knows but they both work.

Those rim and drum kits all have different part numbers for any minute changes in production or rim type on 1122 or 1124. Pia

There are no "big" dealers in my area ,but the one I deal with has been there 40years so they are knowledgeable and will work with me.
2 yrs ago I walked in and asked if they had a tank gasket for a 10-10 mac ? Owner walked over to a bin and pulled out a NOS cork and charged me 12$ .
They put orders in once a week so I don't get shipping charges .

No problem with the local shop trying to order stuff but I was told and believe that Stihl is having supply issues of their own. Local shop my wife works at only has about 5-6 models of Stihl on shelves everything is back ordered including a bunch of common chains. Husky shelves half empty at same place. Went on stihls website to get a ms462 handle and no price after part number which she said usually meant not available at the time.

I only have 1 dealer that orders parts near me. I'm not driving an hour for this.

It's Stihl's own fault!
They manufacture nearly everything in China yet charge premium prices.
To heck with Stihl, at those prices they could have their own jet to get the goods to where the demand is.
At the prices they charge they could just as well build manufacturing plants in Europe and/or the US from ground up to meet any demand.

My Stihl dealer of choice once told me after I asked for a better price on MS462's "If You get ten or more units, we will grant You 10% off list price for cash payment!"
Yeah, right - GOOD BYE ! ! !
Fing greedy bastages.

I do not own a single Stihl tool and I am glad!

I have often wondered if some of the parts cloned in China were originally made there -- I suppose I was right. Early on there was a half wrap handle that actually had the Stihl part imprinted on it.
But every thing Stihl is expensive. Very true. The fasteners for a MS460 rewind I just purchased were .99 cents each.

The STIHL dealer here is like that but I drive an hour down the road to a fantastic Stihl dealer he gave me $300 off on a brand new 461 and always give me good prices on parts .

Mine just waits till he's got around $400 in his order queue and then orders. I like that. Sometimes that's just my parts order. Lol

This seems like the new bash Stihl thread so...

While were at the price *b-wordin bar not all dealers should be Koolaide drinkers or dealers at all!

Well at least the screws don't fall out and they are the best chainsaws with Dollhairs right there imo or Dolkitas.

You need to consider things like sales bonuses and Super Duper Koooolaide, the under rated overlooked money eating monsters that make Creamsickle a word now. Time to call Webster's Dictionary

Remember when it was Mac or Homie here in the states?:pesas:

When your dealer only give u 10% when u buy 10 units u have a bad dealer. My dealer gives me always 20% sometimes more on the big ones. Other dealer here give 10 or 0% discount. So in my opinion u have a bad dealer
