Great work Steve.

Do you fellas find the need to relieve the ramp and top of cylinder extension as well?

Gotta say, much cleaner than the hand method I’ve been using.

Thanks Doc,
The case is machined right there, clearance can be checked quite easily with the backside of a calipers.

Edit: After fooling around with it, I ended up going back to basics and took off as much as the base.

Working 16s so not always easy to keep up. Great idea from Joe and making it work from Steve though. Definitely has me thinking when I do my next one.

@Red97 is definitely upping our game, which is good for everyone. :)

Just thinking, if using the band cut setup, the bolts holding the cylinder might get in the way of turning the cylinder in 2 of the corners as well, plus like a few said it wouldn't be as rigid, I like the idea of undercutting a mandrel at the proper depth of where you want to remove material.

Reminds me of what an old machinist told me about lathe work, "The tool you need most, is the tool you make"
Seems to come to fruition quite often in my works.
