I have all the tree services in the area running the 193/194’s with the .43 gauge chains and bars since they do better with them. Little less load on the saw and since your in the tree not a whole lot to run into with the little more fragile chain.

For sure a good saw for the money. They are a clamshell design but have been holding up real well and even though the 193 was good the 194 is that much better at 339$ I bet they are a very hot seller.
They are for sure enough of a top handle saw to be the only in your arsenal if you were just starting out and couldn’t afford a rebuilt 200/201t or husky 540.
Even though the tree guys up here have 200’s they stay in that truck unless it’s a big tree and the 193/194’s run every day.

I don't have a bone stock 201 to compare this 194 to but it wouldn't surprise me at all if this modded 194 is ahead of one.

I only have dealt with one 201 and it isn’t stock anymore, I know the super early ones were a complete turd hut I’ve heard the new 201 mtronic saws are pretty equal to a stock 200 and both are about the same after mod work. Might have to try and get one to see

All in all I think Stihl did well by just updating the 193’s for more power and keeping the price the same. Very nice saw for the money

I have no idea why guys love a 200 when a 201 m-tronic is here. I actually think the m-tron 201s make more torque than a 200.

The early carbed 201s sucked for sure. But these new ones are the shizz.
