Alright, how/where did you find it? Or did you have it shipped over from Europe? Because I have checked repeatedly with all sorts of dealers and distributors and have been repeatedly told that it has not even gone into production yet.

I got it from a dealer here in the US.

Does anyone know the part numbers for the MS261V2 top cover and the better sealing air guide shroud? I am in need to replace mine on an older MS261CM and would like to upgrade while am at it.

As I know, the new air guide shroud and the top cover don`t match the older models because of different geometry.

Brand new one here on the bench, and I'm more of a Husky guy!

Questions:

Air intake plastic piece (under the air filter) looks pretty restricted- anyone open that up a little?

The new control is nice, but the book says nothing about hot or warm starting. It says to always put lever in the choke position for starting. Those that run this saw- what do you suggest?

Also surprised to find the muffler is a very lightweight open can with no baffles. Looking for ideas on adding a second deflector on the left ( I need to run a fire screen), but the 181 style is way too big. Anything out there that works well?

Got a good laugh from the manual- they take up 2 pages describing how to properly open and close a flippy cap!

Yes fire it up on choke unless its warmed up well. Then just pull the rope.

I add a outlet in the recoil side with rivet nuts and button head allens. I make one from 24ga metal.

Is the change not obvious with the cosmetic changes? Didn’t the angle of the cylinder change necessitating the change to the case? Chain cover changed as well?

Yes there's cosmetic changes. I was trying to help someone I know, that bought a basket case 261, missing enough parts I couldn't ID it for him, if it was a 1.0 or 2.0 version.

Is the handle interchangeable or is there an aftermarket aluminum one? Some like the composite, some don’t.
