I did up a 090 for Rob that turned out pretty well. Not a fast saw, but it will pull as much chain as you could put on it.

Looking forward to seeing how you go at this one.

70 intake
118 transfer
.062" squish clearance.

Thanks for posting this thread. Quite interesting.

Those OEM uppers look pretty darn stock to me. I think the (well done) piston trough fixed some of them numbers.

If one were to have this cylinder replated, how much more would they charge to bore it out?

If I laid out $200 for a replate, I'd be lookin to make it bigger.

Our next home brew experiments here should be home nikasil plating.

Having bored wouldn't be much more. They have to get all the old lining out any way. The 70mm pistons are $2-300.

A head would be easy for that one with the center plug already. Probably do it and not even be noticed.

I'm going to cut the base down some and lower the squish band down to the .025 range.

I've been lagging, mostly cause I'm not the best machinist and was trying to copy what I've seen others doing. My mandrel was a disaster, and would of taken a huge amount of time in stock removal.




Since the jug is already squarish I opted for a four jaw head and the 30 minutes need to get it centered up. Eight small gentle cuts later and the excessive squish clearance should be down in the .025 range.
