It is thus far, the dirtiest saw I have worked on.

I doubt it has ever been cleaned but the oil has preserved it all very well.

I need a pressure cleaner

You have an 076 Super. The main difference that
i know of is the spacer under the carb. That's why
the filter cover on supers sit taller. And you have
holes in the side of the handle housing for the carb
adjusting screws.

Nice project. I know many think these are boat anchors
but i like them. The ones i have a nice runners.
Be sure to check all screw holes and install Heli coils if
necessary.

Loctite is your best friend for these saws. Make sure your carb screws are tight.

These are one of my favorite saws to run. Not fast but a ton of torque. keep us posted in this project.

Oh I will.
I am soaking the jug in some stuff to try and remove the baked on black stuff thats like dry tar.
Not even petrol would move it but the stuff I am using now is melting it away.

I found where the 2 locator pins are so I will get them knocked out later on today and split the case.

Is there a half decent piston made for these other than OEM?
The jug is ok but the piston is toasted.

why not try the 25.99 piston out im sure it is better than what you pulled out of the saw.

Finally the case is split
Was a lot more involved to get this far than on a newer saw.

I still have to work out how to get the guts of the oil pump out to check it because everything was full of little bits of bearing race

No its all in really good shape, just so hard packed with muck from never being cleaned that heat has killed the bearing.

Either that or way too much chain tension.

Its going to clean up nice!
