Ed, do me a favor and check for spark before running the saw. I have extra flywheels here and didn’t think.

I’m just being my usual OCD, but sometimes the magnet rub against the coil can cause issues. I’ve rarely seen it.

Would just like to know if you have spark pulling it over with the plug out of the bore. Preferably before you fuel it and get the flamethrower-out-of-the-plughole phenomenon that’s burned the hair off my knuckles in the past.

Flex- head snap on (long handle?) ratchet is overkill for a spark plug, showoff.

Im at work dammit. My bigger chit is in a different drawer.

I only have 1 Snap-on ratchet at home. The rest are Crapsman, Stanley and a few random Kung-pow.

Classic derail!!!! I got the coolest ratchet at HF. 3/8 on one side 1/4 on the other and real fine teeth. Handle adjustable for length too. Kung Fu but what the heck!

Unless you are beating the crap out of them on an all day basis, it will probably last quite a long while too.
I have a set of cheap S shaped wrenches that for as much as they get used have held up fine over 20 years.
That's one of the things it did not take long to learn in this line of work, which hand tools last, and which ones don't.

There is something dreadful about knowing a tool exists, but not having it when you really need it. It’s a curse!
I think my first special tool was a distributor wrench back in the day. lol

Snow is currently pushed into piles, so it's 036 time.

Nothing you guys have not seen before.
New oil line.

Jumped to getting the tank on.

And the recoil.

Back on the pto side, got the brake in. Dropped the spring twice, E-clip once. Only 2 "special" words were muttered.

Clutch on.

Carb on. It doesnt quite "snap" off the high idle setting. Seems to hang up.
Will need to address that.

Top cover, air filter.

A slew of word were used when suddenly the filter cover would no longer fit.
Then I figured out that the 2 different filter covers have different length "tunnels" for the carb screws...

2 things.

Your control spring looks bent. Never seen one look like that, it’s usually a straight sided upside down “V”. Likely your issue. If you try to test the control lever before/without the control wire in, it will bend that spring. Try to straighten it out.

Let’s see the PTO side of that carb. There should be hard grommet over the carb screws that stays in place and another hard grommet in the cover (on the old style-not sure on new). You may be able to remove the limiter assembly and use the old style cover.

@RI Chevy will know.

Just have to be sure that the rear air filter cover matches the air filter. 036 had no snorkle on bottom plate of carb and smalker air filter. 360 has more rounded air filter cover. Snorkle on carb and different lockup mechanism. 936 had twistloc with rounded knob. 360 had a twist lever.
I can get photos later of need be. And each cover has a slightly different carb block screw adjustment dihicky.

The spring for the master lever is fubar'd.
I got it to kinda work for now.

Heres what I have as far a filter cover etc.

This is on carb.

Top one is off the more rounded old type cover, bottom off cover that was on saw.

The new cover obviously fits, but wont lock due to filter.
The old cover will not fit with either passthrough.
As of now, I think I will just shorten the passthrough on the old cover until it fits down over the carb boot.

I did have to trim some on my older cover to make it fit on the newer saw. Not much though.
