Why don't we use single bevel? Even though the side plate "doesn't do much", seems like you could go longer between cleaning out gullets. If I could find one I'd use it...maybe I just answered my own question

I don't know how to post a video from my phone. I've got vids that show a 38% increase in cut speed using Jon's .325 over off the roll .325

They flex when freehanded. Makes it harder to hold the corner.

Thats what I used. Free handing it is a PITA. Needs the atop guide I used to use IMO.

To much flex in the file free handing as it is thinner.

Single bevel works for a few things. Filing full size chain isn't one.

put the single bevel filed chain on my Dave Nieger woods ported 357

I think Jason said he's on tank 4 or 5 on the chains I sharpened. No where near the factory angles. I think the top plate is 25-30°. I filed some stihl 404 square and the factory angles are about 12-15° on the top plate. Very blunt and they weren't even. Going to take a long time to get to the angles I want unless I round file it first.
