Right now it is shaping of the wheel, I want to use a stone to shape the wheel instead of the dressers, just little things...consistency. I honestly haven't got to spend a lot of time with it. I just need to get it thru my head that not every chain, tooth, and grind is the same, I'm kinda ignorant that way. I have done 2 chains really good and 3 really bad. The 3 that were bad looked nice, but not cut so good, don't know if that makes any sense?
Maybe I'll start a simington specific thread.

Dress the top first. If you're not getting a crisp corner turn the dresser a quarter turn. Did you get multi point or single point dressers? What top angle is it making on the cutter?

Single point dressers. Top angle originally was 30, but see that's just it, it appears that it is grinding more like 38 or 40, it is taking more out of the back of the tooth if that sounds right. I have been dressing the top of the wheel first and then the side. I'm trying to get good pics, cause I figure that way you guys can tell me what I'm doing wrong, I just can't get good clear pictures of cutter teeth. Coincidentally, the first 2 chains I did were the nice ones, the last 3 were the bad ones, instead of getting better...I'm getting worse.

Does the arm have the adjustment for wheel wear? Sounds like you're too far out on the arm if the top plate is that steep.

Hi all . Have a USG ,and a Simington . Still slow at square grinding ,but I definately like it better than round for most of the wood hacking I do . I'd really love to see a CBN wheel made for square . Most likely never happen as you'd be locked into one cutter profile ,but it's nice to dream .

One company was willing to make them. I changed angles too much and wondered how long the corner would really hold up.

Diamond wheel inc.?

Radiac is a lot cheaper. I talked to them about it a few yrs back.

I just priced a raker wheel thru DWI, they wanted 350.00.
250 if I made the blank and sent it to them to plate.

I used square for milling yesterday. 110 dl of skip isn't too bad. The mill makes it more difficult for sure.

I no doubt have experienced square being faster noodling and stays sharper longer but I think semichisel edges it out for staying sharp
