You heating the cyl?

Not a expert but I'll give you a few tricks I've learned. I'm sure you know them already

Heat.... 425-450 on the cyl. Brought up slowly. The sleeve can be painted but be ready for it to possibly burn off if it doesn't slide right in. The outside of the sleeve can be slightly rounded but if you bevel it..... On a thin sleeve Air/carbon will eventually cause it to swell/distort slightly and you may get a tight spot. It's kinda a one shot deal using heat. So sometimes a premade guide is good idea. And after you get it in you want it to cool slowwwww. If you paint the outside of the sleeve you want it tacky and not fully cured. Henc the possibly of fire. But the paint will act as a lube for install and a locking compound once it's cured. We've done the both ways with and without. 6 vs half doz on opinions what is better.

Edit: Don't think of it as a loss. Just another learning experience in the school of hard knocks

Edit#2 : if you have a way to bore the sleeve. You can order one with a extra thick wall and bore the id to your liking. Instead of it being a B sleeve (+.020) request one that is the od you need but much smaller on the id. Make it less fragile on the install. Food for thought anyway.

Awesome tips, thank you.

I was 450* on the jug and froze the sleeve I think I'll try heat only this time. Will also bevel the ports some.

I should have had a ton of clearance, I think thst is where the problems came from. Enough room to get way off track, then chipped the liner trying to correct it. After that it was all over lol.

Have stuff here for 3 more sleeves and a few more cylinders.
