My brother’s back in the day. He bought it and put a rebuilt 305 in it before he could drive. Built 1/2 ton axles, then one tons with lockers, crossover, hyd assist, junkyard creative flexy suspension. He moved to CO to work for Offroad Design and had their steekers on it. Some of the letters fell off and it became froadsig. Still have the cab but the rest is gone. Axles went under his crewcab V10 F350. Bobbed and caged, etc. Calls it the meat wagon. Fun trucks. I posted a pic a while back of my ‘88 Blazer on CUCV one tons, lockers, etc. 20”
Wheels and 12.00-20 mil Michelins (44”). Was a beast.

Want to get back to having a beater to beat on.

Been working on a square body (1990 s10) 4.3l 4x4 5spd. Picked it up about 6 months ago for $500 because, I wrecked my other one.... engine in the new truck had a spun bearing. Pulled the engine out of the wrecked truck and put new bearings, seals, gaskets and a holley tbi manifold. I completely rebuilt the front end and put a coat of epoxy paint on it. Got a new clutch put in. The nv3500 trans seems to be in decent shape. I put a g80 posi in the rear from my old truck and replaced u-bolts and had to fix both shock/leaf mounts because both bolts snapped off. I just drilled a hole through it and stuck a bolt in it and welded it to the backside of the bracket. Still a work in progress but, finally runs and drives...

Very nice truck buddy, does that truck have stock suspension? I’m doing work on mine now and I really like the way this sits.
Thanks man. No sir it’s not stock, but it’s not extreme, just a rough country 2.5” all spring lift with 33’s

My first ever vehicle was a 74? C10 Custom Deluxe straight six three on the tree my parents bought me for $300. It was a total mess, but it lasted long enough to learn how to drive. It was blue originally, but someone brushed some black pain all over various parts in an attempt to prevent the rust. The floor was totally destroyed and we had to put a few blankets on the seat to feel safe enough to sit on it. I wish I had some pics, it was a real POS!

Dads 84 3/4 ton 4x4. 350 mercruise, 700r4, 4 inch lift. Body had 12k miles on it when he got it. Was a 1/2 ton, 4x4, 305 with a 700r4.
How do you like the Mercruiser 350 in it? I know a guy who has a few and was thinking it might be a quick way to de-smog my 85.

The mercruise 350 has been a good engine. My dad originally bought it from someone who was swapping a performance engine into their boat. It went into his 1982 3/4 4×4 and was used to pull car and horse trailers, haul hay, firewood, plow snow, etc. My dad found a like new 1984 1/2 ton that came out of a barn. The story behind that truck is that the owner lost his job and reported it stolen back in the mid 80's. The owner died and his kids were cleaning out his place and found dads truck that had supposedly been stolen and reported it to the insurance company. The insurance company claimed the truck and sold it to the wrecking yard my dad works for. He purchased it for $400. The paint was like new until it sat outside for a few months and then started flaking off so, he had it painted, swapped 3/4 axles and springs in, swapped in his 350 boat motor and sent the 700r4 to a friend of his that builds transmissions as my dad wanted to have overdrive and it has really tall gears... 3.23 if I remember correctly. Pretty much idles down the highway haha. He had a quadrajet refurbished and it cold starts just as easy as tbi. The 350 mercruise is no power house but, it will run circles around a factory sbc of that era and they sound cool when you stomp the gas. Only thing with it being higher compression is that it may need higher octane fuel or a little less ignition timing. There are a few different versions of the carb 350's that came in boats ranging from 250-300 hp. Dads is most likely the 300hp.

Pretty neat chain of events for sure.

I'll get a few more pictures next time I'm out there. It's a really nice truck. Too quiet for my liking as he used all the stock exhaust. Here's an old pic I found when I was helping dad swap axles. received_10152667970377791.jpeg
