I read somewhere Solo & Dolmar did collaborate on the 7900 series. Solo got the shaft and came out with their 6 series. Solo and Dolmars are almost identical lots of parts interchange. Big difference is 1mm stroked crank in the Solos.

Any input on the 656? Prefer hands on experience rather than “ my buddy’s friend’s cousin’s uncle didn’t like his.” Thanks.

Hi,
AL-KO, a German company of something like 80 or so years, bought Solo in 2014.
ALKO only bought the chainsaw-business from Solo, Solo by itself then has focused on sprayers, misters, blowers and small machines for communal services.

I read somewhere Solo & Dolmar did collaborate on the 7900 series. Solo got the shaft and came out with their 6 series. Solo and Dolmars are almost identical lots of parts interchange. Big difference is 1mm stroked crank in the Solos.

There was a development partnership between Solo and Dolmar (by the time already Makita owned). The result of this partnerschip
were Solo 694 / Dolmar 9000 and 9010 as one model line and the Solo 665, 675, 681 which correnspond to Dolmar PS-6400, 7300 and 7900. One the two Solo models was produced by Dolmar in Hamburg, but I currently don't remember which one.

The Solos usually had a little more displacement than the corresponding Dolmars.

You have a solo 610AV there
Thnks! From my digging that's what I had came up with too but the handle was attached differently that the 610av I found pics of. This seems to be a decent little saw.

Moparnut88, compare these 611 photos to yours. For all I know the 611 and 610AV could be the same externally with internal variations.

Got this today. New oem chain tensioner for my Solo 603. A good friend of mine is from the Netherlands, and his parents ordered it and brought it with them over here for me. Pretty cool.
