Can't wait to see it run. As Hng as you got a good squish, proper ring gap without snagging a port from fingers if used.

Well, at long last I decided to try to fire up my little project. Filled her up with 91 E-free with Stens full synthetic at 40:1. Stihl bar oil. 20" husqvarna bar and new Stihl RM chain.
Fourth pull she popped. Pushed the choke in and came to life on next pull! I let it idle for a couple minutes with just a couple blips of the throttle then killed it and let her cool down.
Then I fired it up again and went to town noodling a beastly Sugar Maple chunk. Smoky for the first few minutes or so, definitely running fat.
I tweaked the idle to around 2800, dialed in the low, re-set idle, and adjusted high speed to right around 13K. Went back to the maple for some more noodling and she ran awesome!
Sorry Randy, she didn't blow up, yet, so I don't think you're getting your grubby mitts on her!;)
Glad I installed the decomp, serious compression compared to what I've used in the past.
Cheers and thanks all!

There is something magic about a 681.....they really haul ass! They'll embarrass a 576xp or ms461 but don't tell everyone or they will all want them!

Nice build/upgrade thread!

New Solo 665, 675 & 681's are still sold here (Croatia), but at a too steep price tag for my liking.
The price difference between the 665 & 675 is minimal, but the price difference between the 675 & 681 is just ridiculously high (more than a PS-7910 P&C kit worth).
Considering those three saws are the exact same saws with just different sized holes in the cylinder I don't see a justification for the Solo's 681 inflated price.

I'll stick to my Dolmar PS-6400 & PS-7900's for the time being, my toy budget is too tight to experiment with other saws.

Using Google Currency Converter:
Solo 681 =1290.73 USD
Solo 675 = 999.72 USD
Solo 665 = 940.03 USD
Dolmar PS-7900 = 969.58 USD (not a typo)
Dolmar PS-7300 = 993.90 USD (not a typo)
Dolmar PS-6400 = 819.15 USD
Dolmar PS-6100 = 969.73 USD (not a typo)

These prices are collected from a few shops and the saws are obviously old stock (or outdated listings, I didn't check with the shops).

Wow. The 7900 isn't too bad but the others are a lot higher.

I am somewhat surprised on the PS-7900 price myself, two shops have her priced quite similarly so it seems to be a correct listing.

I don't understand the pricing on the Solo 681, Dolmar PS-7300 and Dolmar PS-6100 - makes no sense to me, way too expensive.

Same rules apply as my 2nd post up:
Dolmar PS-7910 = 880.34 USD
Dolmar PS-7310 = 835.57 USD

Huh, didn't expect that! o_O

The Solo 675 is a strong saw, possibly the strongest stock 75cc saw money can buy. I have Solo backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, weed wackers & clearing saw. All VERY impressive, the kombi style multi system power head is the most amazing trimmer 30cc class power head I've ever used. How little fuel it uses & how strong it is impresses me every day. I cannot remember the last time I ran a full tank from start to finish non stop, it would take well over an hour. Much lighter and stronger than stihl's equivalent.
