Just goes to show WOT rpm don't mean squat...
Great job Keith! That thing is crankin through the wood!!!![emoji41]
Lol, you watch the last vid at 15,200? It felt way faster. And the can't is even gettin bigger too.

Wot rpm does and doesn't make a difference.
If your saw can hold 13,500 in the wood and you only have it tuned to 13,000. Well, it kinda makes a difference then.

Very cool. Considering the age of the 034 series it really still holds its own (not so much in the AV dept) against newer saws.

You'll have to run that Solo against one of Al's MOFO 036 when you get it all sorted out.

Love the Solo build though.

Anyone own a solo and not have this happen?

Twice to mine and once to the only other that I've ran.

Saw looks great Deets.

As for WOT rpm, guess it's a sign of saw design. I think what Dan was saying was that some saws are faster tuned fatter through wood. In fact, I think tuning in wood is the only real way to see a saws potential. Then when you pull it out, WOT rpm is just a reference point for where to set it.

We noticed this on a few saws at the CT GTG. Also, The Silver Eagle (@Canadian farm boy) found out that an 036 made more power with the smaller bing carb with less WOT rpm than it did with the Zama.

It's probably where the fuel circuit is tuned at in the wood rpm for different carbs. Some will be fastest in the wood tuned to the higher WOT rpm and some will not.

Just my .02

Is that the fuel tank vent hose??

Well put Al, I agree just cuz it tunes high at wot doesn't mean that it's the fastest in the wood there. And this whole racing thing is all new to me. Tune makes a huge difference

Yes it does,,, you have to find the happy medium,,,, I go by reading the spark plug and top of the piston color in relation to when the engine pulls the hardest/quickest working *a new plug* doesn't read well until they get a little time on them, the piston top (wash) is easier Usually barely tan is grand!!!! if it is too white with no color, it will break,,,,, Nice running saw BTW,,,,, the higher sustained chain speed loaded in the wood will always produce the fastest times

Me !!!!!! It mainly hasn't happened because I haven't run it yet,,,, But I'm changing the vent hose tubing just as soon as I get around to unpacking it and before I put fuel in it!!
