We have a rating system. It is not a fail safe. For example eBay has a type of feedback system and yet things happen there.I like this!!!
Your right but it’s not the chainsaw or the parts it’s your hard earned money that you lost.I think part of this is people just need to realize occasionally your going to get ripped off. Is it really worth blowing stuff up over a chainsaw?
Just make sure the guys name gets put out there in a nice way and move on with your life.
If I were spending a lot of money on a chainsaw purchase I would only pay via PayPal goods and services, at that way you have some protection. Thats worth the 3% fee in my opinion.Your right but it’s not the chainsaw or the parts it’s your hard earned money that you lost.
And yet people think we need to reinvent the wheel at ope for selling and buying. If I were spending a lot of money on a chainsaw purchase I would only pay via PayPal goods and services, at that way you have some protection. Thats worth the 3% fee in my opinion.

I already told you in the NSP thread it won't reach that far.Dick.
Id like to see you stay on -- you help steer things in a positive direction.Well, I came home from a weekend trip just a couple of hours ago, and I’m trying to catch up a bit on what’s going on. I’ve made some phone calls, and sent some messages. We’ll see if that brings any clarity to it.
Nothing will undo or change anything that has happened. There’s no way to unring that bell.
What I’m hoping it will do is save and retain some of the forum’s dignity, so we can forge a new and positive future for all of us who enjoy this place.
As far as moderators helping with deals that have gone sideways: It’s all pretty basic; we don’t have any pull in any direction. There’s nothing we can physically do to help. What we’re left with is basic mediation between people.
We can’t read your private messages, so there’s no way to spy into anyone’s business.
It’s all he said she said, and very often a lot has transpired over a long period of time.
Friendships are tried and opinions are formed.
My biggest recommendation is to be careful, in any deal, with payments.
You’re basically on your own, and everyone needs to know that. Use payment methods that are safe and protected. If the seller doesn’t want to do that, pass on the deal.
I know that some of this is easier said than done, so take it for what it is.
Use the rating system for what’s worth. That’s the best, and only, system we have in place, and is meant to prevent some of these situations.
Buyer beware. Always.
With all this said, I’m happy to stay on and help in the best way I can, which is often limited time wise. I’m also accepting that if the forum members feel it’s time for me to step away, I’ll respect that.
Sondre's help and wisdom are invaluable, so yeah, we need him to stay on.1

JJ probably has all those construction materials in the pockets of today's cargo pants.I say we treat this OPE like any broken machinery. Repair, rebuild, or repower. Use the seller/buyer rating system it does help along with goods and services. @Woodpecker pick up some fuggin boards and nails and rebuild that bridge with JJ and the others and get settled back in here. You have shown non biased moderating skills in the past. If this site is going to recover you need to be a part of it.
Look who/what just popped up. Been a while since I've read some of yer one liners.Dick.
Maybe there should be a feedback system on OPE? Was a lot of people that wanted to know who the seller of the 346xp was. It might help in future sales? I have had nothing but good transactions from members here.We have a rating system. It is not a fail safe. For example eBay has a type of feedback system and yet things happen there.
I really appreciate the vote of confidence. At this point after this consuming what feels like all of my free time for the better part of a week, I’m feeling more burnt out than that bridge! But hey tomorrow is a new day so we will see I guess. I think this thread has been a good first step though.I say we treat this OPE like any broken machinery. Repair, rebuild, or repower.
