Bamboo socks, seriously, they are the best socks I've ever worn in boots, I had blisters on both heels and little toe from crap boots, bought bamboo socks and forgot I had blisters

Probably a bit expensive for firewooders but the best pants I've had are Pfanner Extreme Kevlar chainsaw pants, very tough. The last pair which weren't the extreme version lasted two years in arb work, 5 days a week ground and climbing and washed every week

You left them up north. When you do find them put them in the first place you looked. Its the system I use.

I would forget where the first place was!

Sock companies are sneaky. They make small changes to their styles every so often just cause of cheap skates like us. Next time I gotta buy socks, I'm gonna buy about 20 packs of em and stash the rest away till needed, that way they're all exactly the same.

You are going to forget where your stash is put, atleast I would.

Call me anal, but I safety pin my socks together before the hit the laundry. I used to be able to find some with "sock snappers" attached.

Most of my casual socks are Thorlos.

Good idea...... plus then you don't have to match them afterwards.

How did the new chaps compare to the old ones? Have a chance to try them yet?

It wasn't recent, probably been about 14 years ago. I was somewhere around the age of 18, still had some experience I started using a saw at a fairly young age. Anyway my step grandparents had a huge white oak they needed taken down. It was somewhere around 42" in diameter at the stump. My Dad said I was the man for the job, cheap labor lol. I topped the whole tree and had about a 35' tall stump with some big limbs (20") left. The tree was standing right beside a work shop, it had a super heavy back lean and a house directly behind it. We tied a long rope to one of the top branches and hooked it to a tractor. I made my notch and started around the back, drove a few wedges and everything was going good. I was getting close so I gave the signal to the guy on the tractor, when I did he got too excited and dropped the hammer (hit the gas). I looked up just as the rope snapped, the tree came back to me so I pulled the saw and ran. Apparently the saw was still turning at a high rate of speed and on the first stride away from the tree I hit my leg. It took me a second to figure out what went wrong, and man I was glad those chaps had done their job. A while later I had the Kevlar out of the chain/sprocket and I was back in the wood. I was so appreciative that the guy at the hardware kind of made me buy them, that I took them back to the store to put them on display so others could see how important they are. I left them there till the store closed down and I went and got them back. They now hang on the garage wall to remind myself when I'm feeling lazy and don't want to take a pair, that I probably should.
