Sander for $5, damaged power cord, cleaning and lubrication of course, check the attack wheel, it will last or fall apart 😉 Look at the caps and don't do that 😉 He is 25 years old It is extremely uncomfortable due to its angular housing and lack of an additional handle

How do you fix the lubrication? Just new grease to the gear wheel, or somewhere else too?

older equipment has open bearings, so I wash and lubricate them, newer ones have covers that I remove from one side. The attack wheel breaks due to hammer blows

The grinder costs $5, the smallest one is 25 years old, the spring is installed backwards and the fan needs to be replaced, Interestingly, there are caps where the additional handle is mounted

Bought climbing ppe in advance of doing the training course because it was on sale. A lot of money involved in getting into this tree business.
In Ireland you are required to have type C trousers, helmet with chin strap and saw proof boots and gloves to climb.

Today, a Chinese grinder for $5, I added a cable and a service cover and replaced the bearing under the fan
Where do you get your parts?

I assume that cables, and some bearings are generic.

But ive run into things made by Milwaukee (switches) and Makita (clutches) NLA.

Not even some obscure brand.

Thanks.

Philbert

I only repair those that require little effort, you can install a different switch. The rest is left aside. e.g. for the price of a new rotor you can buy several grinders to be serviced

Yeah. Seemed stupid expensive, compared to a file. But once I had it, I really liked it.

There are cheap eBay ones, that are not as good. We discussed these quite a bit in a thread on A.S.;

Philbert
I have a clone off eBay, IIRC it was under 10$ shipped from China.
At first I thought of replacing the flat file, but it wasn't necessary so far.
I like it enough that I purchased a spare one.

I don't get much wear on my bars, but used chainsaw purchases tend to come with badly worn rails.
I dressed a couple dozen bars so far and the cheap bar dresser is holding up fine.
