and how much is too much now? I recently saw one in working order here for $333 / The correction in this price was Ms 044 and the newer Ms 440 is an expense for us at least. $500
I paid 400$. It has Chineseum carb, recoil cover assembly, clutch cover. Repaired fuel tank, roached handle bar. So I got a decent short block. No fasteners stripped. Ultimately, I should've just seen if anyone on here had a case with crank. I've already purchased a good used tank assembly, 460 KS top end, air cleaner cover. I plan to use one of the 2 461 carbs I have. Long story short I'll have a ton of coin in this saw when it's done. I had gone to look at a few "parts saws". Both of them were just roached. Bolts stripped, cranks wasted. Idk what people do to saws to get em that far. Long before they're that trashed, they stop doing the work needed. Idk.

It's not what I bought today.. My buddy Eric found this specimen for way too cheap! He had one years ago and lent it out. You know the rest of that story. So I did a build thread on here of his 044. This early 026 rounds out his arsenal... 20231023_173045.jpg20231023_173033.jpg
That's a happy bloke right there! He and I had been looking for a while. Specimen!

The grinder for a few dollars is 28 years old and the engine is barely used because one of the brushes is stuck. Plastic gear housing and the motor is larger than the new Bosch 1000W

31.50 Shipped,
Yeah. Seemed stupid expensive, compared to a file. But once I had it, I really liked it.

There are cheap eBay ones, that are not as good. We discussed these quite a bit in a thread on A.S.;

Any signs of bad commutator arcing damage, as the stuck brush wore away?
Check any solder work and wire varnish on the rotor windings for over-heating as the brush wore away.

You probably are doing this, as you seem to work with the used tools pretty regularly, but others may not be aware of it

Happy tool hunting!

This is what would happen if the operator used it forcefully, but there is no sign of damage / sometimes someone notices that something is wrong and puts the equipment back on the shelf
