Just picked up the very dirty remains of an ex-hire 2013 550xp Mk1 for £40 ($52). Big chunk of the piston missing. It will never run again but the parts are worth more than that to me. The cylinder looks usable, despite what happened to the piston. I'm going to swap it into a 550xpg I have that ate it's rings.

Solo Multimot 100 for $7 I added a string handle and extended the wire to the spark plug, the fuel tank wire was replaced, it lit quickly and was included with the brushcutter / one side handle I have never seen , at least 35 years old

This was my latest cast iron find at the dump.
Vintage Griswald waiting it’s turn at the electrolysis tank. View attachment 384100View attachment 384101
Dang, and at the dump no less!

An old timer taught me a trick to cleaning up badly rusted cast-iron. Get a raging hot burn pile that is down to a mound of hot coals, dig a hole in the mound with a layer of coals on the bottom still, place iron in and cover up. Come back 12-36 hours later and the rust falls off if even still clinging.

Try an e-tank sometime.
Works on the most rusted of vintage chains as well.
Found a pipe wrench that was buried, hung it in the tank and a week later it was functioning.
